navycyr
FX Garneau College women soccer team won a fifth Canadian College Athletic Association (CCAA) title saturday defeating NAIT Ooks host team by a score of 3-0. Previously the team had defeated Holland college by 6-0 and last year national championship winners Concordia Thunder by 3-0. Garneau women had previously won national titles in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2007. Next year, Garneau will host CCAA national championships and will try to earn a sixth title that would make them the college having won most national women soccer titles. They are now tied at 5 with Capilano College of BC. It was the first time I attended the event and I would say the level of play is superior to the U18 national clubs championship altough in my opinion Beauport U18 and Erin Mills U18 had better teams than Garneau. However 5 of the 6 teams at the CCAA were better than the other teams present at the U18 national championships. navycyr
What field did NAIT host the men's nationals on. OT from women's I know but watching some of men's too Thanks for the link They were playing at Fuhr sports park at Spruce Grove. Very nice facilities, I have only good comments about it and also about the organizing comittee who did a great job ! Fuhr sports park has 2 artificial turf soccer/football fields side by side with stands on each side that can accomodate I would say a thousand spectators each. There is a four feet high fence around the fields and it is covered with a yellow foam so players can see it well and not get injured. There is also a sport complex nearby (sharing the same parking lot) including 2 hockey rinks, 2 interior soccer fields (size of a hockey rink each), a double gymnasium, a pool, spas, a training center and a clinique where one can get massage, physiotherapy... I was really impressed.
