A scalpers nightmare

MLS worst case scenario

No Beckham, no Henry

2 hard working, no name teams

It will be a great game :)

Add to that, two Western teams, so there will be far fewer traveling fans than if any Eastern team had made it. And then add in the likely rather cold weather (8:30 pm start), and the significant level of disappointment from the local fan base regarding the ticketing for this game, and I wonder who's gonna show up.

This thing is not going to look good on Toronto.

Any news on how ticket sales are going or will we see swathes of empty seats at BMO Field?

The game is probably going to be a sell out.

But whether the season ticket holders who were forced to buy tickets will show up is another story. And with the ****ty weather that's being forecast, the lack of promotion and the general pessimism with the team doesn't help matters either.

The secondary market is flooded with tickets. What are the chances that someone who can't sell their tickets by Sunday will go anyway?

How's the excitement building............the Cup arrived y'day.

Suprised to see that the game will be on TSN2, did TSN have many MLS games thi season? What US network had games besides ESPN and Fox Soccer?

Will be interesting to see the TV ratings on both sides of the border

So we have two unglamorous teams who will compete for the championship based on results achieved on the field. This is the best thing that could have happened for the league.

The way this little league is going to build isn't through fluff pieces about whichever international is slumming in Carson or Harrison. That's going to get some drive-by attention, which is nice. It may even get some TV ratings. But it won't build real, solid franchises.

...

The fact that MLS Cup is being contested among two of the longest-suffering fan bases (counting NASL, and not counting APSL) is a feature, not a bug.

Having Colorado and Dallas in the final is an unmixed blessing, because there's nothing that gives hope to every fan than a new champion. Fans of bad teams are given hope.

Friends I know can't even give them away, I'm thinking 15-17000 actual bums in seats how many MLSE say is anyone's guess. I'm going for sure but can't say I'm looking forward to getting home in the early hours of Monday morning

It usually is shown on the main ABC network rather than ESPN in the United States as part of the league's main national English language broadcast deal in the USA. ABC, TSN and ESPN have shared ownership to a degree (think ESPN have a 20% stake in TSN, while both ESPN and ABC are majority controlled by Disney) so MLS Cup and the All Star Game tend to go to TSN rather than to TFC's broadcasters.

But this is the first time it will be on TSN. In 2009 it was on GolTV and in 2008 it was on CBC; prior to that I don't think it was on Canadian TV, but ABC was always available.

Speaking of ABC, they showed it from 1996 to 2008, but in 2009 and 2010 it was/will be on ESPN.

It's not on TSN. It's on TSN2 which isn't available with regular cable; it's only on digital cable, and it isn't part of the standard packages. Personally I don't get it.

Though GOL TV is playing a repeat of it at midnight.

Yes, I know. BringBackTheBlizzard and I were talking about TSN in general. TSN2 isn't standard, but neither is GolTV.

Bottom line: the 2009 and 2010 MLS Cup finals reached/will reach fewer homes in Canada and the US combined than the first 13, which is ironic for Canada since this one will be played here and we are on the verge of having 3 teams in the league, and a step back for the US.

Excited to see a championship won in Toronto again
Well, we did have the CSL, OUA and CIS championships over the last month (the latter two won by Toronto teams).

... though GolTV is only about $2.70 a month, on Rogers at least. For TSN2 I think I first have to add a basic package with TSN in it for about $30 and then add another $10 package with TSN2 ...

Still it's a shame it isn't on CBC or on a sport channel that's part of basic cable, like Sportsnet (in Toronto at least).
