Looks like a great place for Young's NASL team.

BringBackTheBlizzard
Has Bob Young been talking about the NASL for Hamilton? He claims to already have the rights to an expansion franchise: http://www.24thminute.com/2010/07/golden-horseshoe-derby-coming-your-way.html Looks like a superb location for a stadium. Unless I'm greatly mistaken I think it's close to the Hamilton Spectator building on the 403, which makes it easy to get to by road for literally millions of people outside the immediate Hamilton area (not much more than an hour from London for example with little or no likelihood of traffic congestion along the way unlike what happens on the 401 from Kitchener onwards) and it's probably closer to downtown Hamilton than Ivor Wynne is for those arriving by public transport. paul-collins
Location is close to the GO train station, according to google? It's not much west of where the city council wanted it in the first place, is it?

Soccerpro
This country desperately needs more pro soccer teams. It's somewhat reassuring knowing that Bob Young is in charge given his experience with the Carolina Railhawks etc
alberta white
This country desperately needs more pro soccer teams. It's somewhat reassuring knowing that Bob Young is in charge given his experience with the Carolina Railhawks etc As a slight aside, Aussie has been attempting to grow its Pro game since the mid 2000's loosing some spectator numbers along the way but using rugby Leauge* and AfL Stadia to offset the start up cost inherent in organising the infastructure. Unfortunatley for Canada the Stadia available is esentially (and reasonably) CFL orienatated. That means plastic fields with Permanent markings. But the use of the afore mention stadia is why they can put a serious FIFA 2022 bid in with what amounts to a low quality league, but a relativley competative national side. *For those who dont know what Rugby League is. Think CFL without the padding (and no! I dont mean flag football- actually think NHL for Egg chasers)
brettinhalifax
That means plastic fields with Permanent markings. I disagree... the markings don't need to be permanent and of the 8 CFL stadiums, BC Place, Commonwealth and the Rogers Centre don't have permanent markings. A new plastic pitch without permanent markings would cost less than $1 million, which is a lot of money, but on the other hand is a lot cheaper than building a soccer-only stadium. It's somewhat reassuring knowing that Bob Young is in charge given his experience with the Carolina Railhawks etc IMO what Canada needs is more professionally-run soccer teams. Not just at the highest level, but also at the PDL and CSL level like the Victoria Highlanders and Milltown FC.
rico
well the CSL is still expanding
