Yes, we should move on, but it still pisses me off that this kid took a spot from some other Canadian on our youth team. If he had never done that, then I wouldn't think twice about it because his relationship to Canada is tenuous at best. However, the CSA invested in him and now he's jumping ship and I don't respect that one bit.

Does that tournament cap-tie him? Not that it matters, really - his interest is expressed and we should just move on.

He's cap-tied at the youth level for us so the only way he can play for the US is to sign the FIFA papers to change allegiances. Once that happens, he can't come back.

Oh, and **** him. His dad was one of the best Canadian players ever and he pulls this ****? And he got a chance to develop with our program from the age of 15! What a ****in' dickbag. I hope he suffers a career ending injury.

Wow, Bunbury is that good of a player? Based on what I saw him in MLS, he doesn't look that good of a player at all.

Anyway, Bunbury (unlike other so called Canadians like JDG2 and English whore) should hope he doesn't play a game in Toronto or Vancouver next season. He is going get it from Canadian fans.

On a side note, my hate for USA soccer grows even more.

I should be used to this stuff but it still pisses me off everytime it happens! As was pointed out, he took a valuable spot in our youth teams! You would think following in your Father's footsteps would mean something, just as maybe playing with your brother on the National Team would! The good thing is we have some depth at striker, guys who WANT to represent Canada!

I don't think he's proven yet that he's good enough for Canada, let alone the US. Sure, the potential is there, but with that and $2 I can buy a roll of toilet paper to wipe my ass. And to be fair to Teal, he grew up in the States. He's American. The only trouble is that he took our time and money as a youth player.

I too resent that fact but some blame has to be put on the CSA coaches. Why the f* are they developing players who are eligible for the US?? Sidney Leroux is the most glaring example. Hopefully Ali Courtnall will stay true to Canada (after a good start at the U17 level) but again, another player we are possibly training for the USA.

Thanks a lot Teal. Your Dad was a class act. You're a punk.

Nice news on the day that I reflect on what the earlier generations sacrificed to make our country what it is today. That pic is in homage to my Granddad, a medic with the Ottawa regiment Cameron Highlanders, who landed on Juno beach on D-Day and worked his way into the heart of Germany by the end of the war.

Agree, the only real problem I have with his decision is the fact he used a spot on our youth national teams. He's really an American IMO if you look at where he grew up.

I also feel it's a risky move for him, he might end up being a a non-factor for the US. If I had been him, I would've wait a couple of years before committing.

Well, Will Johnson is an example of a player we took a chance on and it paid off. If you are going to install such a politic (not calling players who are also eligible for the USA) it might result in more problems with those players (ie: if they aren't good enough to play for the US they might not want to play for Canada either after being snubbed). It's a risk we need to take but a policy to get some of that money back (Asmir and Teal please) would be nice.

Your granddad was a class act by the sounds of things - bless his memory and the millions of others like him.

As for Teal, he is essentially American, as I have been saying for months. The sore point is the spot in our youth programs, the time and energy invested in him especially. We have to find a way to try and curb more of the same.

Never a dull moment around here, eh?

Ironic and kinda sad that looking back at the thread I posted on Haber vs Bunbury, now neither will be playing for Canada anytime soon - a dead argument.

If Teal had any doubt he should NEVER have suited up for Canada and clearly the only reason he played for Canada was as a stepping stone because he knew he couldn't be cap-tied and that is what is wrong with FIFA rules...

In this case the apple has fallen a long way from the tree

This is what happens when we have to send our players abroad to develop. Shame on him for flip flopping. The bottom line is that clubs develop players, and if all those clubs and teams are abroad, how is a player expected to keep his allegiance to Canada?

F*uck him. It's the same story every time, takes up a spot in our youth development program, our coaches put hours into grooming him to be a Canadian international. On a Canadian talk show - It's Called Football, and on sportsnet he says I will be proud to suit up for the Canadian national team. If he decided as a 15 year old to go into the American system I would have no qualms, but what he did to this program is classless. He deserves to be put in the same category as ********** and Begovic - pure scum

Don't take a call to the USMNT for this game as indicative of his skill level. This is a very experimental squad with a number of backups to the backups being called.

They're leaving a lot of players at home because of the travel time.

It's quite conceivable that he could make this switch and then never be called again for a meaningful match.

Exactly, I watched all his 5 goals this season and I can tell that I wasn't impressed at all. I found that just one of his 5 goals was all credit to him but 3 of his goals was all a gift from the keeper and his goal against TFC was a gift from Cann. TBH, I don't see Bunbury making the jump to some European league right now, unless he develops into a better player in the future and that remains to be seen...
