canucklefan
"Eight players from the Portland Timbers' 2010 roster will not be re-signed, the team announced Monday. The group consists of defenders Ian Joy and Ross Smith, midfielders Johan Claesson, Brian Farber, Derek Gaudet and Keith Savage, along with forwards George Josten and Ibad Muhamadu." I hope the Caps will give at least a trial to these guys. Ross Smith was one players with most starts with the club.
Razcle
I thought Ian Joy was a solid american defender who came back from Germany, 2 seasons ago to play with RSL. Has was he ever a factor for them or has he flown right off the radar as a D1 level player?
Lord Bob
Joy was their captain last year and had a pretty solid season - I put him on my USSF D2 all-star team. Frankly, I'm surprised they didn't keep him.
Slamo
I wonder if Joy asked to be released. That one doesn't make a lot of sense. Smith and Gaudet are unfortunatley internationals for the Timbers, so that was expected. More likely to see Gaudet with the Impact. Smith has a buit more experience. I could see the Caps giving him a trial.

Then again, I thought Greg Janicki was terrible too, and Vancouver has seen enough to bring him up with them into MLS, so what do I know?

Slow as molasses in January. Puzzling. Leadership signing, I guess.
Slamo
No, you're right, Janicki was awful. Slow as molasses in January. Puzzling. Leadership signing, I guess. He hasn't actually been signed for MLS but he is a depth player. Lots of heart and his speed is less of an issue when the Caps go 4-4-1-1.
