Thoughts on the upcoming MLS Expansion Draft. I choose my hypothetical protected eleven and I point to the three players I think most likely to leave through this process.

Why protect Dan Gargan & Nick LaBrocca? Nobody would want them. Certainly not Portland or Vancouver.

Just like last year TFC have very little to worry about. There are lots of teams with a lot better players who will get picked way before anyone looks at yours. Look around the league honestly and tell me there aren't lots of players in the expansion draft that you'd take.

Peterson, Usanov & Saric? You are certifiable. Peterson maybe could get a tryout but that's it. No thanks to the other 2 for certain.

I would definitely protect Gargan and LaBrocca, you don't leave guys on 5-digit salaries who are productive off the protected list when you have so many other crappy players on the roster.

As far as anyone being selected off the TFC roster? Maybe John Conway, that's about it.

Yes a seasoned keeper with a good track record would be inviting for both the Caps and Timbers. Yes the other 2 are cheap and as long as you don't have to risk losing any of your young talent you may as well. I would protect Conway before either of those 2 though. A solid #2 keeper is worth way more than a journyman mid.
