jpg75
Closing out the CCL group phase with a "meaningless" game against the Panamanians. I'm going to predict some of the young guys will get a shot (Lindsay, Henry etc.) and we'll win 1-0 or a 1-1 draw. Atleast the weather should be an advantage, it's going to be single digits and a cool, brisk wind sweeping off the lake.
gkhs
I think the RSL CCL home draw was the single bitterest pill to swallow in my entire time following TFC. Obviously, destiny would still have been out of TFC's hands, but to have made it to this match with something to play for would have been awesome. Easily would have been the biggest single match in TFC history. Instead, I can't even find anyone willling to come with (or take my tickets). jamieNDG
was at the game. the quality of play was low. i like the linsay kid he was finding himself some spac at times. dont know what to say, wasnt much of a crowd. Ive been to three games this year so far all CCL and I think it sucks it really sucks that TFC cant muster a crowd to see their team play in a tournament that is of a higher level (- arabe unido) than MLS. \\ Im curious how many of you have tried to buy 30 dollar tickets (2 side by side) and been unable to. Yet you go to a game and there a tons of empty seats. LOWER the seat prices and make them available to people. I am not spending a 100 bucks to see ghetto soccer. Another thing that makes me laugh is that everyone *****es that the MLSE is owned by retired Ontario teachers fund. I cant tell you how absolutely **** that pension plan is. The Retired Ontario teaches pension plan has just about the worst drug coverage that I have ever seen. Honestly i feel terrible for a retired teacher that gets sick and needs medication. Youd be way way better off on welfare.
Gian-Luca
1-0 win for TFC, Attakora with the goal before being subbed out at the half, presumably due to the knock on the head he received. If nothing else, this ought to secure Canada an automatic spot in the Champions League group stage at Panama's expense. With the Panamanian team finishing last by quite a margin (and looking excruciatingly awful from aesthetic point of view), I can't see the justification for Panama getting an automatic spot ahead of Canada the way they did this year. All of the academy kids showed some potential (which is more than can be said about Fuad Ibrahim, who seems to be regressing every year - tonight he had a full 90 minutes to show how dreadful he was, pretty much nullifying every TFC attack once he got involved). I was very impressed with Ashton Morgan at left back - made some great forward passes, was willing to take on defenders, got himself up the field far more than the likes of Garcia or the Latvian did in that position all season and yet was never caught out of position. He made the odd mistake (as did the other Academy & former Academy players) but showed a lot of promise. Of course, the weakness of the opposition must be considered, but good passes, speed and positional sense tend to be things that will apply regardless of the opposition. Its the only bright note to end the season on - the development of these young Canadian kids.
guppy
I know, isn't Ibrahim awful? It's almost comical. He's got nothing. What's he show in practice, I wonder. He looks like another official on the field, following the play. When he touches the ball it's like it was an accident.

Gian-Luca
What was the attendance? According to this article just over 10,000: http://www.thestar.com/sports/soccer/mls/torontofc/article/878107--youth-prevails-for-toronto-fc but in reality I don't think it could have been much more than 6000, maybe 7000 at the momst - that number quoted must have been the paid attendance. To be honest, not a suprising number given that it wasn't a season-ticket package game, a completely meaningless one and on a cold weekday night & with all the recent disenchantment over the team this season. Usector looked to be there in relatively full-force at least - I don't think the same can be said for the other two main supporter groups.
BearcatSA
Was Gala in the squad? If not, was he injured or is he simply and clearly on the outside looking in?
Gian-Luca
Was Gala in the squad? If not, was he injured or is he simply and clearly on the outside looking in? It was difficult to tell - for some reason the stadium announcers and scoreboard operators only think the starting squad, not the substitutes, are deemed worthy of being mentioned to the spectators, something that always annoys me. Normally I can see who is warming up (I'm one of the few in the stadium that likes to get there in time to see the warm ups) but sometimes players who aren't dressed do the pre-game warm up with the other players - such as Stefan Frei last night, who I later saw in the press box (not the actual press box, but one of the boxes beside it - my seats get a pretty good view of it if the players stand up rather than sit, as my seats are only about 7 rows below the "players" box in question). I though I saw Gala out there in the warm up but with the hats, coats and gloves being warn I couldn't tell whether he was on the bench when the game started. Either wayThe fact that he wasn't played though is not a good sign for him, especially as it is difficult to imagine how the hell he could fare any worse than Ibrahim was last night. I can confirm that the rumours in some fan circles that Mista has already been sent back to Spain are false, as I saw clearly saw him in the "players" box last night. Guest Ed
Recorded the match while I was doing the taxi thing with my kids. And, for a change, it was worth it. Very encouraging play from the youngsters. Have to agree with the assessment of Fuad, totally useless, although with the dodgy refs could have won a big free kick with his marquee toe stub in the 1st. Congrats to Jason Bent for starting to produce some real players that will force Fuad off the squad. Very impressed with Lindsay and Morgan on the left and the young sub for de Guzman looked lively as well.

It's fall certainly, but it wasn't see-your-breath cold or windy. All in all, I thought the attendance was better than I expected!
