Canada - Guatemala friendlies , October 23 and 25 in Cancun , Mexico

Not much really. Guatemala arrived yesterday, so they will be a little unsettled today. They have an all-male staff of seven. Both symbolic of their program which is pretty weak by Top 15 standards. Some pics below of their camp.

The real surprise is the Mexicans, who are basically the only thing between us, the Cup and a UEFA play-off. The Mexican program seems to have fallen apart. They still have a handful of good players, but their preparation and investment is certainly nowhere near ours. They were in the Peace Queen Cup this week, but other than that the only other games this year were half a year ago when they were pasted by the Japanese and Americans.

1-3 Australia (Peace Queen)

1-0 Taipei (Peace Queen)

0-4 Japan (Spring)

0-3 Japan (Spring)

0-3 USA (Spring)

0-1 USA (Spring)

The only teams Mexico has beaten in the past 2.5 years are #51 Chile and #72 Venezuela.

Throw out the stinker against Germany and this year we have had camps and played every two months all year:

3-1 China (3 weeks ago)

0-5 Germany (one month ago)

1-1 Norway (June)

0-2 China (April)

1-0 New Zealand (Cyprus)

2-1 South Africa (Cyprus)

1-0 England (Cyprus)

2-1 Switzerland (Cyprus)

3-0 Poland (Cyprus)

And more importantly we've been together training, travelling the world and playing friendlies for the past two months solid. We've even out-prepped the Americans, who have some internal issues and are in a surprising dip in form. We're actually poised extremely well to win this.

First game was at 6:00pm in Cancun today so would just be ending now, Monday TBD. I'm not sure who in the women's staff is responsible for communicating back to the CSA, but I'm sure we'll see something in the next day or two.

Perhaps the more interesting part is we're in Cancun playing warm-ups before the most important games in a couple of years kickoff this week- and we have no idea who's made the squad and is down there.

I can tell you who's on the National Para Soccer team playing this week, or our U15 roster next week, but nothing on the women's players or staff.

Edit: Steve you beat me to it...
