Nice strike from Di Lorenzo. It's rare you see a free kick scored that on the ground that isn't a defensive error.

Montreal deserved more out of this game though, there's probably a little disappointment they aren't taking a bigger lead to the second leg.

Player Ratings;

1 - Matt Jordan (G): Rarely tested as Carolina played with one striker. Kept a clean sheet and was subbed at the half. Let's hope it was precautionary 6

2 - Hicham Aaboubou (D): Difficult second half, caused mostly by miscommunication with Pizzolitto. Seems to suffer when Jordan isn't there to direct traffic. 6

21 - Philippe Billy (D): Less involved offensively, he played a strong defensive game none the less, patrolling the left flank. 7

3 - Adam Braz (D): Braz kept his temper in check, and that wasn't an easy thing, given last night's chippy affair. Developed nice chemistry in support with Le Gall on the right side. 7

5 - Nevio Pizzolitto (D): Was lucky to get away with an elbow to the thorax of a Carolina player, in the dying minutes waiting for a free kick. Despite some communication issues with Aaboubou, was dominating one on one, and kept his passing game simple. 7

11 - Leonardo Di Lorenzo (M): Man of the Match, scoring on a free kick just out side the box. Delivered dangerous crosses all night, and was unlucky not to have them buried. 9

14 - Tony Donatelli (M): Switched from the right wing to replace Testo as a water carrier. Did it effectively, even though he clearly doesn't have the same bite as Testo. 6

17 - Anthony Le Gall (M): Stepped in to replace Donatelli at right wing, and did quite well for himself by creating several scoring opportunities. His pace kept the Carolina back line in check. 8

26 - Antonio Ribeiro (M): Might have suffered an injury, which might turn out to be a huge blow for the Impact. Fed dangerous through balls to Sebrango and Gerba in the first half. Antonio also has to control his actions, having received a yellow card. 7

10 - Ali Gerba (F): Although he didn't score, he certainly had the chances to do so. Noticed that he suffers when his partner Sebrango is subbed. Will need to come through on Sunday. 7

12 - Eduardo Sebrango (F): Worked hard all night, but wasn't able to finish some glorious opportunities. Sebrango has been a playoff performer through out his career, and this year is no different. 7

Replacements;

22 - Srdjan Djekanovic (G) (45' Matt Jordan) : Seemed some what shaky at times, needs to regain the confidence he showed early this season. Will hopefully be prepared to step in if Jordan is injured 6

8 - Filipe Soares (M) (45' Antonio Ribeiro) : Might have seen the last of Pastel, as he committed 2 useless fouls including one in the last minutes of the game from a dangerous spot. 5

19 - Reda Agourram (F) (81' Eddy Sebrango) : Saw very little of the ball, and seemed to be concentrating on his defensive responsibilities. 6

9 - Rocco Placentino (M) (86' Anthony Le Gall) : Would have like to have seen him earlier in the game, as the Carolina back 4 was suffering. Seems more comfortable on the left side. 6

We deserved more in the first half. The second half was probably the worst I have seen the Impact play in at least a month and we were lucky Carolina did not tie the game.
