bgnewf
http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2010/09/goodbye-concacaf/ Why I strongly feel that we as supporters should still go to the Arabe Unido game next month even though the game means nothing to the results of the tournament. foreverthursday
Why don't you just write it out and post it on here, instead of shamelessly trying to get hits to your blog and vlog? I noticed you don't actually post anything outside of links to your blog with a brief synopsis of what your blog is about. So tell me on here, in the voyageurs forums you signed onto, why are there no meaningless games?

Trying to get hits on your blog or web is not shameless, and especially not so when there is no direct financial advantage to be had. He is doing exactly what he is supposed to do, and I welcome it. If you don't understand blog culture, that's fine, but don't criticize those who do. As far as I am concerned any content on Canadian soccer of whatever sort can be linked to here, and better the link than a cut and paste, as it is neater. If it's on topic, and this is, you have a choice -- click or don't.
Richard
The whole point of hyperlinks on the web is to avoid repetitious posting of the same copy all over the place, risking copyright issues in the process. Besides, it is pointless for people to cut and paste material here rather than simply linking to the original. Heck, we click all over the place on the web and arguing against it in this instance smacks of an agenda or personal vendetta.
BrennanFan
clearly, duane has a hidden agenda.
jpg75
I have no issues with bloggers posting a link in an existing thread where the article they have written is relevant, nor do i have a problem with starting a new thread for pertinent and insightful work from time to time. What i think might need to be asked is if a blogger repeatedly starts threads solely to post a link to his blog, whether that constitutes spamming or not....and really how good is that persons work, does it stir debate or is the person re-hashing what is being said on all the message boards? SthMelbRed
Personally, I have no problem with somebody who is an active, contributing member of the board posting links to their blog, as long as their subject matter is relevent. In fact, I will click on a link for such a poster, even if I'm not overly interested in the content of that particular posting, just to help them out. However, if the sole purpose of that person posting on this board is to pimp their blog, I'd say that is too close to spamming for my liking. I have never clicked on a link to the OP on this thread's blog for two reasons: 1. he blogs exclusively about TFC, which is of no great interest to me (directly), and 2. I can't seem to recall this person posting anything of value to this board beyond trying to spruik his blog.* *just did a search on the OP's posting history on this board. It appears that his Vs profile is purely a vehicle to promote his blog, lending credence to the suggestion that his posts are very close to spamming. Fort York Redcoat1555362293
Meaningless games? Those are midseason when players can get hurt and have it kill a season. This tournament needs support and I hold it in higher esteem than the league regardless of how many people go to the matches. I'll be there. Like yourself, I don't click on it (or Duane's either all that often) as I too have little interest in TFC. But, if I were a TFC fan, cruising the TFC & MLS board here, I would not be unhappy at all to find a thread pimping either Big Newf's or Duane Rollin's blogs. Cheeta
Fair enough, but sheesh. Tough crowd. Just my opinon but, blog away, and let people know about it. Canadians writing about Canadian football (as it interest's the writer) and "promoting" those blog-o-sphere writings on these forums through topics (existing or new) doesn't bother me much. Is it spam? Probably, but I'm willing to qualify the "spam" label by degrees. If people are interested they've been informed of the blog and the blog will provoke discussion. If people aren't, or are simply tired of the subject, the topic will very rapidly die on these forums. Even during the slow periods so I don't see a heck of a lot of harm in the practice of announcement topics like this one. There are as you have suggested, limits though. argh1
I guess what gets to me is that since Mr Pike announced the National Stadium and took $ from FIFA and the T-O crowd was so estatic about leaving the USL 1 Lynx behind. This was to be the saviour of Canadian Soccer. Now only a few years later folk are bailing because the FC haven't accomplished much? Go back 5 years and what would you rather have? Many of us objected to a National Stadium and CSA backing 1 pro team. Are TFC supporters ready now to prove we were right?
