youllneverwalkalone
Does anybody know if Doudou Toure can be considered "home grown" for MLS? Najar was in a similar situation, but I feel like he must have spent a lot more time in the US.

A Homegrown player is considered someone who has spent a given amount of time with the club - i think it's 2 years, but it may have been changed to 1000 hours or some b.s. like that. A domestic would be someone who has a green card or the Cdn equivalent.
youllneverwalkalone
^I'm trying to figure out if you can have additional internationals on the 30 man roster if they meet the criteria of home grown? (Whatever that may be). Neither Toure nor Mobulu could be considered domestic, but both are '91s and still listed on the residency roster. I don't think either makes the team next year as internationals, but could definitely take the 29th and 30th spot.
RS
MLS hasn't yet made public the make up of the 30-man roster for 2011.
DJones
I been fortunate to have coached Daniel Stanese since he was 5 and I'm extremely proud of him and his accomplishment. He is a very skilled player and a terrific kid who has spent hours upon hours training on his own outside of our training sessions to get where he is today. The 10,000 rule is definately in effect. Although my son was hoping that he would pass on staying home so they could both leave for Europe next season, we're both very happy that he's excited about this opportunity. He will make the most of it! His determination and leadership is undeniable. A good choice by Dal and the rest of the coaching staff. Most of the BC names on the list I've either coached against or my son has played with/against in the last year or so and are good choices. Yassin has been a standout since he arrived in the country and one to watch - for sure! McKendry, Fisk and Clarke are very talented players. Spencer DeBoice may be little but is very skilled and has tons of confidence. He played for me at the BC Summer Games and at U12 was bending in freekicks. Magic left foot! Marquez has speed and can really finish. Rowley is a former CMF player and one of the hardest workers out there. Van Blerk is another talented defender. The others I'm less familiar with. I'm going up to SFU to watch them play. Their playing a combination of the Coquitlam Metro-Ford Wolves men's team/U21 team tonight and my 15 year old has been called up to play for the men's team. Unfortunately he injured himself last night in training but it will be great to see the Res young boys. Hope Dalrymple plays them!

DJones
What happened to Brayden Gant? Gant is playing with the CMF Wolves men's team and I believe he is planning on going to University (UBC???). Didn't play tonight, BTW. Game just finished. The very, very fit Residency beat CMF U21's (plus a handful of senior players and a U17 player) 5-1. Fast, fast pace! Maybe the Ontario guys might know more about him but Bryce Alderson is going to be a player. I was told that he is/was captain of the CMNT U-17 team and he looks the part. I was very impressed with him as well as Yassin who runs around at a pace that is a couple of miles per hour faster than everyone else. Well done to Daniel (started for the 'Caps men's team last week in an exhibition game vs. Trinity Western) and Spence on a great game tonight. Both papa's are very proud of their boys!! Best of luck! tovan1
Whitecaps Residency to go Dutch? (from BC Soccer Web) http://www.vi.nl/Nieuws-item/188083/Grootscholten-Aan-geld-geen-gebrek-bij-Whitecaps.htm (Article in Dutch) Google translation: Grootscholten: "At no shortage of money to White Caps' 12/10/2010 08:51 Richard Grootscholten leave at short notice to Canada where he set to work at the Vancouver White Caps. The former technical manager of Sparta Rotterdam gets a wide range of responsibilities at the club where once Ruud Krol was still playing. Grootscholten in Vancouver is responsible for youth training and the promise goes under-20 teams and 21 years training. He was also in the interest of a number of Dutch clubs, including RBC Roosendaal, but chooses the adventure. "And especially the challenge. I've been three times in Vancouver and the ambitions of the club are great, because from next season, which starts in March, they have a license for the MLS 'says Grootscholten to Voetbal International. "I get an assignment: the best club in North America to be. No lack of money. The club will renovate the stadium for 480 million U.S. dollars, while 33 million is ready for a training center for youth, my department. " "I think I lost my egg it well may," continues Grootscholten. "Of course it's a big step because I'm not going without my family, but sometimes you just take a chance. Add to this the fantastic living conditions in a beautiful city and you will understand that I really see nothing. "
Richard
That's why I didn't use a Google translation but thanks for the rather uncommon source credit :-)
tovan1
translation aside and if it's true, it shows the 'caps are finally moving away from the temp situation with Dalrymple and the split with Neindorf. Grootscholten will likely have connections in the Netherlands which will definitely benefit the Whitecap's organization. If they are maintaining their links to Cottbus as well, they'll have a foot in both the Dutch and German youth/league systems (arguably two of the best in the world). They are once again demonstrating why they are considered the top club in N. America when it comes to youth development.
Macksam
It would certainly appear that way.
Guest Ed
I see very little inidication that the Caps are keeping their links to Cottbus. I suspect the German youth league system connections have gone away as they were very much down to TN.
