Guest Ed
Round up of upcoming action in Germany involving Canucks: Friday B2 FC Ingolstadt host Rot-Weiss Oberhausen. Unlikely to see Fabrice Lassonde named to the 18 man squad. Saturday Liga 3 Kickers Offenbach, led by player of the month Olivier Occean, host VfR Aalen. FC Heidenheim host SV Wehen Wiesbaden, but Nik Ledgerwood still rehabbing a muscle strain so unlikely to feature. Sunday B1 FC Koeln host newcomers FC St Pauli. Kevin McKenna not listed as a starter by Kicker, with Geromel back. Could still feature as Mohammad is also out injured. B2 VfL Bochum vs FC Augsburg. Marcel de Jong was given the green light to train but kind of doubt we'll see him Sunday. Hertha BSC vs Arminia Bielefeld - 'Der Riese' (the Giant) Rob Friend set to start. Monday B2 Energie Cottbus and Adam Straith host Karlsruhe on Monday.
Guest Ed
"Question of the Day ... with Defender Adam Straith" at the Cottbus website: "Adam Straith, you were away for 10 days with the Canadian national team, landed in Berlin at 11 in the morning Thursday, and now you're on time at training. You must be tired?" Adam Straith: "Yes, I'm stiff from the 11 hour flight. But otherwise physically, I am feeling very good. I played 90 minutes in both national team games. I played as a central defender beside Kevin McKenna in a 2:0 loss to Peru, and as right back in a 2:1 win over Honduras. It was a great experience, but I am looking forward to the next game with Cottbus." Just found this. I don't remember it being posted, but a Times-Colonist article on Adam Straith prior to the Honduras game. Gotta love his attitude.

"That'd be something special, to play in that tournament [Gold Cup 2011]" I wish this attitude was displayed by more Canadians (specifically the untied ones). loyola
Well double O keeps on rolling. I'm pulling for him! You can watch the highlights (10 min approx) of his game here: http://www.hr-online.de/website/rubriken/sport/index.jsp?rubrik=55641&key=standard_document_39732263&mediakey=fs/heimspiel/20100911_heimspiel_offenbach_vs_aalen&type=v OO goal is very nice and he was part of the setup for the first goal. It seems he's always involve and had 2-3 chances well saved by the keeper.

Mais en fin de carrière, si l’Impact s’intéresse à moi, ça pourrait être possible.» In 2012 I will be 30 years old and I want to play at the highest level in Germany. But if the Impact is interested in me at the end of my career, I will consider it I hope he is not blinding himself... 28 years old in B3, he could be playing B2 next season at 29, but is he really hoping to start for a B1 club?? What does ''the end of my career'' mean? MLS is not so ****ty and at 34 I don't see him making an impact with MTL.

As much as I would like to see him with the Impact, I think he has his priorities correct.

Guest Ed
Big day for Canucks in Germany. Rob Friend with two goals is the man of the match for Hertha on their 3-1 win over Bielefeld and Marcel de Jong scores for FC Augsburg in their 2-0 away win over Bochum. McKenna still on the bench, and Adam Straith, coming off his 20th birthday yesterday, looks forward to his 26 Bundesliga 2 game on Monday.
loyola
Kicker.de ratings for our Canadians: Marcel DeJong received a 2. Rob Friend a 1.5 and get on the team of the week and is also the player of the week in the B2. OO also gets on the team of the week for the B3 with a 2 (4th time in 7 weeks he's named in). He's still leading all players with a 2.21 average rating.
guppy
Friend is actually tied in 1st in scoring in B2... It's way early, though. Still, proves that if he is used right, he delivers. loyola
Still, proves that if he is used right, he delivers. After watching both games last week end I think you could say it’s a case of “You’re not helping!” for Rob. While the services from our wingers and midfielders have been generally poor during the 2 games, I also feel like Rob didn’t help by doing a poor job at holding on to the ball when we were building an attack. If he does a better job that means more chances will be created but of course the crosses might all end up flying 10 feet over his head….
youllneverwalkalone
Wow, we have a lot of in form strikers right now. Gerba, Occean and Friend all bring similar attributes to the pitch. A 4-4-2 against the Ukraine would allow us to see two of these guys at the same time. I think Occean and Gerba would do really well together, while Rob and/or Jackson could be brought in when Ali tires. Doubt we'll see it from Hart, but that's what I'd try. frank_e
What a game in league 2 with canadian participation. Adam Straight and Cottbus hosts Karlsruhe. Home team took a 2-0 lead, Karlsruhe came back and took a 5-2 lead, now Cottbus ties 5-5. Adam will go 90 minutes as Cottbus already changed 3 times. Really worth it watching the game. Keegan
How has Adam looked? Conceding 5 goals at center back usually isn't a good thing haha 2 Canucks leading their respective german leagues in scoring... I don't think this will happen again

As an aside, I like the way Brazilian Maicon Santos held up the ball and set up his teammates vs Motagua. That's the kind of thing you look for in that type of striker: when he's on he's really hard to get off the ball without fouling.
Guest Ed
It's official. Olivier Occean has reached rock star status with an aricle in Bild . Apparently his nickname is (wait for it) BILLY. Short piece talking about how happy he is that his Icelandic wife and 2 children have joined him in Offenbach. (Note - video posted the other day shows them in the stands a couple of times).
