P.S.

You might just be able to expect us to pop up in Kiev for October's game. I'm headed back to school in Europe on Sept 14th, so it's only a quick jaunt over to Ukraine for the match. We shall see...

Cheers and thanks for your support and feedback, nice to meet some of you tonight in MTL.

Not directly related to the (wonderful) content of this thread, but instead related to the title...

I read the Toronto Star online most days, and while there is decent coverage of TFC, I was shocked to find that there is absolutely no mention of yesterday's Canada-Honduras game, anywhere, even on the "soccer" page: http://www.thestar.com/sports/soccer. Pathetic.

(On the top-level sports page, seven out of the eleven highlighted articles are about hockey, five of which are about the Leafs.)

Hey Jamit,

We had some kind of a technical error with our rental gear and our video recording of the post-match press conference has no audio. I apologize for this error on our part.

If there is anything specifically I can answer that you are curious about let me know.

There were truly no bomb-shells dropped or revelations provided.

In short:

- Hart was pleased with the gritty performance, and pleased to get the win

- The decision to start Dunfield was partly a decision to reward his enthusiasm and guile. Hart thought that he put in a good performance.

- Hart mentioned that it may be difficult to get some of the players in the MLS playoffs for the Ukraine match, but said that it would not necessarily be a more Euro-based squad

- Bernier and Stalteri also offered the usual post-match player comments, nothing really stood out

- Hart managed to put his shirt in the dryer before coming up for the press conference!

Hope that helps.

nice post game report... gotta love the water bottle comment, Paul enjoyed that, too bad he couldn't talk about those moments of frustration with Concacrap and how we get robbed so many times. Paul has always been vocal and quite passionate, sometimes too passionate haha.

Just get around to catching up on some papers I get a work. Here is an article in the Canadian edition of the 'Epoch Times' regarding the games and the fan support. Interesting point about the attendance numbers for the matches in the article.

^ Already posted elsewhere but yeah, interesting article. Although, take the Epoch Times for what it's worth. It's a free newspaper that absolutely despises China and about 85% of the content is propaganda. But hey, i'll take the soccer coverage!

Ottawa Citizen Article on the Support.

Titled: Tepid Support Stirs Stalteri

"In 2009, his club coach agreed to release him to play for Canada in the Gold Cup. But, before the Cup began, that coach quit and his successor put considerable pressure on Stalteri to back out. He refused to buckle. He loves his country and he had given his word."

Enough said

Read that article in the paper over the weekend. Quite good, and sums up a lot of our points and frustrations. Nice to learn more about Paul though, I see our captain in a slightly different light now.
