DJT
Guidelines for this thread In this thread post match updates on all Canadians abroad for July 30 - August 5, 2010. If you find updates posted in some other thread or on the other Voyageurs forum then post them here as well, but be sure to credit the original poster. If there is news that is particularly significant (eg. someone scores a big goal, someone gets injured, etc.) then feel free to begin a new thread on that topic in order to draw greater attention or start a discussion, but also post that news here. Some comments on news posted in this thread are okay, but let's not let this thread go off into a long discussion. If the news already appears in another thread (as per the previous bullet) then post your comments in that other thread, otherwise if you want to say something significant or if it is likely to generate replies then begin a new thread. nolando
-Haidar rode pine as Nimes went through the French League Cup 5-4 on penalties after a scoreless match. -Jonke was apparently outstanding playing 90 as his Oulu beat KuPS 3-1. nolando
Jackson started and played 72 min against Everton (what a difference a week or two makes, eh?) in a 4-2 losing effort: "Simeon Jackson had a couple of wayward strikes from distance" Peters started and played 72 min in a 1-0 Ipswich to West Ham: one fan commented, "peters i thought was the poorest for us , he isnt a RB" Edgar was on the bench for a 2-1 Burnley loss to Stoke Jake Inglis played 90 in Elgin City's 3-2 Scottish Cup victory over 10-man Ayr United
canucklefan
Jackson started and played 72 min against Everton (what a difference a week or two makes, eh?) in a 4-2 losing effort: "Simeon Jackson had a couple of wayward strikes from distance" Correct if I'm wrong. Jackson played a lot of friendlies so far with his new club but hasn't scored yet?
nolando
Correct if I'm wrong. Jackson played a lot of friendlies so far with his new club but hasn't scored yet? It will take time - what is encouraging is Jackson looks like he will be given the adjustment time. Getting this many minutes this close to the start of season, against an Everton side featuring most of their regulars, is good news. Sure beats rotting away against the likes of Cheltenham in Lg 2. tarnado1555362291
July 30 GAVIN McCALLUM played 90 minutes and SCORED both goals for Lincoln City in a 4-2 loss to Grimsby Town in the Lincolnshire Cup semi final. Adam Straith played 90 minutes for Cottbus in a 1-1 friendly draw with Chemnitzer. July 31 Junior Hoilett was a 57th minute substitute for Blackburn Rovers in a 2-1 win over Sydney FC. 'Hoilett was immediately into the thick of the action as he laid the ball neatly back to Dunn but his effort was blocked.....The second half saw Rovers double their lead when substitute Junior Hoilett crossed and Morten Gamst Pedersen bundled the ball home.' Atiba Hutchinson was a 63rd minute substitute for PSV Eindhoven as they tied Newcastle United 2-2.

loyola
St-Johnstone lost 0-2 to Bolton in a friendly. Haber played the first half before being subbed for Collin Samuel. According to the SJ match report it seems Marcus had quite a busy half and played well: http://www.perthstjohnstonefc.co.uk/matchdaydetail.php?param=
nolando
Nakajima started and played until min 59 of Horsens 1-0 win over Odense. Their first win this season in three tries and interesting to see Issey playing in what looks like an CAM role.
Unnamed Trialist
V. Oslo with 8-1 win over Start. Lars played the whole game but didn't score. Classic Loyola, mind if I borrow that line for all future keeper reports: "but didn't score"

jpg75
It seems Occean scored yet another goal in Offenbach vs Bayern Munich 2. 40th minute. 3 goals in 3 games, i think that deserves a call-up at some point.

Loud Mouth Soup
Elliot Godfrey played the full 90 as an Arsenal Reserves XI defeated his Borehamwood 3-0 in a pre-season friendly at Meadow Park. It appears this is his current trial club. EDIT: It appears he is signed according to the previous friendly match report: "...new attacking midfield signing Elliott Godfrey"
SCF08
Tosaint Ricketts has scored again in the Europa League. MyPa are currently leading 0-2 away at FC Timisoara and are now leading 3-2 on agg. There's only been 25 mins played in this 2nd leg though. Would be amazing in they manage to knock Timisoara out. EDIT: Ricketts has bagged another...0-3 now! jpg75
^ Not bad, beating a Romanian club would be a feather in the cap...on a CONCACAF note, Costa Rican Winston Parks is now playing for Timisoara.
SCF08
Ricketts's contract expires 31/12/2010 doesn't it? Could be quite handy for him. A half decent agent could get him at a much better club now. FC Timisoara wouldn't be a bad move.... EDIT: Superb quality Sopcast link (top one) http://www.myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid=82878∂=sports Timisoara just hit the post in the 52nd minute. MyPa playing 442 sitting very deep which is quite un-necessary leading 0-3. While typing it's 1-3. Rebound off the post that fell nice for a striker. MyPa have a Schwarzenegger upfront and Ricketts is playing 10 yards deeper and feeding off him. EDIT 2: Ricketts should have had a hattrick. He was sent clear and a suicidal Timisoara goalkeeper came running in for no reason whatsoever and with the goalie outside the penalty area Ricketts couldn't get the ball on goal. He slided it under the goalie and wide of the far post. It's 2-3 just a couple minutes later. Great finish from a difficult angle. MyPa need to hold on for 10 mins. EDIT 3: 93rd minute and just a couple of seconds before the end it's 3-3. Pretty much deserved result. MyPa were all over the shop in the 2nd half. Very negative and Timisoara didn't have to do anything spectacular to create chance after chance. Ricketts was taken off in the 88th minute after cramp. jonovision
I'm surprised that nobody caught this one earlier: 100-year old Tomasz Radzinski celebrated his return to the Belgian Jupiler League on Saturday the 31st in a 1-0 loss to Sint-Truiden, going 90 minutes. He is likely to start today as well against Standard Liege.
