jpg75
I didn't realize until now that Padova were already playing in Serie B last season. I have corrected Marco Souths' info. on the MOACA. Good to see that he was named to the 18 man Primavera squad for their match on May 1st against Cesena: http://www.padovacalcio.it/dettaglio-newsgv.php?id=62 He just turned 18 in March so he would have been as much as 3 years younger than some of his teammates and opponents last season. Jeremy
I have come across this player, Valerio Alesi, who seems to be the first canadian in Serie A, unfortunately. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerio_Alesi

loyola
Here's a quote from a Collin Jose article about John Van't Schip: In 1992 he was transferred to the Italian club Genoa, then playing in Serie A. He played for Genoa from 1992 to 1996 appearing in 107 games and scoring 11 goals. The last season 1995-96 Genoa were in Serie B. Thus he became the second Canadian born player to play in Serie A after Valerio Alesi (born in Hamilton in 1966) who played for Ascoli in 1984. http://soccer.loop48.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=2550
Havoc88
I have come across this player, Valerio Alesi, who seems to be the first canadian in Serie A, unfortunately. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerio_Alesi Tough to determine - his club were only in Serie A for his fist season and unless his game stats are available the wiki page is actually a bit vague. He might have been on the team but whether or not he played (or started) a Serie A match is still unclear.

alex36
Doesn't matter to us if these kids are the first or not, the important thing is that they have the support to get there so doors can be opened for future players. That is really the point. If they did play, thats great, but no one has followed in 25 years, way to long ago. I will assure you of this, that as a keeper, he has brought Canada's toughness on the pitch to light and dont think any of the players mentioned were keepers where they? BigBird
Genoa primvera team lost to Savona 4-2 on the 10th, Robert was not in the line up as a starter reason i think, as he was invovled with a call -up to the first team as back up, still no news of any signing yet it has taken a bit longer then others he has till august 31st, the result at Savona game is not a good one for genoa with 4 goals against, maybe this will speed things up and real soon, if not already,.
