By air I presume. Just a heads up that the land crossings from Colombia to Venuzuela are not only dangerous, but often closed due to internecine disputes. Given the instability in Caracas, who knows what the situation in the whole country will be in 6 weeks? It may influence whether the team actually decides to go in there at the end, but if you end up buying a flight ticket, still go Merida is great (I have been there), and things are never as bad as they say in the paper.
