nolando
I have been sniffing around for him and he finally popped up, in China this time, with second tier side Guangzhou FC. No really source or confirmation of this, but no reason to think this isn't legit. Fully expecting Chin to emerge in China as well, but that's just a hunch. Anyone able to confirm? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Gbeke http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guangzhou_F.C.
yomurphy1
If this is true I don't get why he would go to China. He's a proven scorer in the USL and their must be better opportunites in USSF2 and even low level Europe.
JamboAl
It could also be that Guangzhou pays much better. They used to be a Chinese Super League side and have played English Premier League sides in friendlies before. EDIT: I heard a BBC World Service feature on the Chinese Super League last week and they said two sides were relegated because of a betting scandal. Just found out that Guangzhou was one of the two sides guilty of match fixing and bribing referees.
Soju
Oh wow why the hell'd he go and sign there... at least Guangzhou is warm year round and fairly livable but that's a garbage league and the one above it is not only garbage but super corrupt as Jambo pointed out. I wonder if he'll stay. As an aside (I think this was mentioned before when we were talking about Gordon Chin) Gazza played four games with a 2nd division team before disappearing for alcohol treatment. Gbeke is in good company
