Facing Mexico - The 2000 Gold Cup Revisited

It was ten years ago this week that Canadians would wake up to seeing their national team make the front page of the sports section for the first time in the Gold Cup. They would be basking in not only one of the biggest wins in Canadian soccer, but biggest upsets in CONCACAF history. On February 20, 2000, the 85th ranked Canada defeated the 10th ranked team in the world, a team that had not only won the last three Gold Cups, but not lost in the tournament since 1991.
