Sam
Hey All I've spent the last week trying to put together a list of the top 25 Canadian players in the game at the moment, and after lots of tinkering I've finally came up with a list I'm happy with. I'd really appreciate if you went over and had a look at it and I'd love to hear your feedback. http://canadianstretty.com/2010/02/02/top-25-canadian-players/
canucklefan
9. Simeon Jackson 8. Ian Hume Right now I think Jackson is more important for his club and our NT than Hume. My top 5 would be: 5. Rob Friend 4. Dwayne De Rosario 3. Julian De Guzman (since he joined TFC, he hasn't shown the same level he showed with Deportivo) 2. Atiba Hutchinson 1. Mike Klukowski. Razcle
I see you included Edgar in the mix even though I dont think he has been capped yet. What camp was he invited to but never played...Cyprus? Estonia?, other? Good list by the way. Your blurb of each player was insightful and pretty accurate. Good work. masster
Nice idea and not a bad list. I'll give this a go when I have time.
Havoc88
That is a great list. The only player that I would possibly move up on the list (at first glance) is Josh Simpson. He's getting heaps of time in a tough league, and performing/scoring against the top teams.
BearcatSA
I think that for a guy of his skill level and club experience in European club competitions, not to mention the high praise from his current club manager, Hutchinson should be a more dominant player for us. I agree, at the gold cup it seemed like both Atiba and Julian were satisfied with simply distributing from the middle and feeding our offensive players. We usually dominate the middle of the park but both players don't really get many attemps on goal, like Lampard or Essien do for Chelsea. Actually Hutchinson to me plays more like John Obi Mikel for us but I think he has the skill set to do more than he does for us. I wouldn't mind trying him on the wing where he ocassionally plays for Copenhagen. It would probably bring his more offensive side out. I feel he is somehow constricted in the middle, but he is so consistant their for us its hard to move him out wide.

Guest Ed
No offence to Sam, who opened this thread, but I tend to agree with this list more than the original proposed.
Sam
^ Too each his own... it's hard for any of us to make a perfect list though, b/c none of us watch all of these players on a regular basis with their clubs
BearcatSA
^It's a great way to promote discussion/debate, so kudos to you. I hope you do another next January. I'd be curious to see which players rise to greater prominence and which ones drop down to obscurity. I'm really curious to see how the sophomore MLS campaigns of Jakovic, Hainault, and Johnson play out. I'm hoping Attakora continues to build on his breakout MLS season of last year, as well. Putting together the list was much harder than I thought.
