Correct me if I'm wrong - but has he not be out of Holland's plans for a while now? That's what I had been told and assumed was so

It's hard to say. He was never going to be part of this World Cup squad, but his injury situation has set him back and he is now falling off the radar with Feyenoord. From the reports I've seen, Feyenoord was keen to transfer him during this window but there were no takers. He'd really have to come on in the next year or so to get back in the picture for the Oranje.

So Jonathan is still hoping to play for Holland, but if it doesn't work out he'd consider playing for Canada...so the only way he ends up playing for us is if he's not good enough for Holland.

I don't think he is good enough for Holland. Well maybe a few caps here and there, but by no means will he get a solidfied spot on that squad ever. The Duth have so many guys to choose from and so much skill and talent that miniJDG just won't make the cut there; however in Canada I see him as an regular and quite possibly our best player on many nights.

Since the 2008 Olympics as a member of the Dutch U23 team Jono has been limited to a total of 11 games due to injuries. Last season he played 2 games and was suspended for 3 others before suffering a season ending knee injury. When he came back this fall he had lost his spot in the starting XI to 19 year old wunderkid Georgio Wijnaldum (which was amusing) before winning it back with 4 goals in a 9 game span. During that time he was overlooked for a callup in the last Dutch WCQ, which was meaningless since they'd qualified already and would have been a good time to cap tie some youngsters like Jono. Does that mean he's shunned? Don't know, but keep in mind that his former club coach Bert Van Marwijk is the current Dutch coach.

Jono is currently injured so Feyenoord can't sell him this transfer window and he'll be out of contract this summer. The rumours were that Chelsea and Valencia were interested in him before he got injured again. He turns 23 in Sept. so the fee is either minimal before that or free if signed after his bday (not sure the exact rule on that).

I think Jono isn't going to make the crazy big difference that people are expecting. I mean I think we just go on our way and if he comes back great if not whatever I don't think it will be a make or break point for 2014

My guess is Judas would probably just be a more talented replacement for De Ro if Judas ever played for us. An important part, would win us a few games but not a huge turning point IMO

I wish we could reject JDG2 if he wanted to play for us but unfortunately we probably can not afford to.

I was in favour of letting Fernandes back if he wanted because our keeper pool is so thin right now.

In Judas’ case I believe one could argue that his apparent injury problems that rejecting him might have a better impact on our MNT than letting play. This would leave a sour taste in Julian’s mouth so I think if he wants to play we have to let him.

If one wants to draw the line however, our recent depth in defense would allow us to reject Mr Vitoria quite easily to make a statement
