spursfan
Kyle Denbrook who plays for Saint Mary's University attended a tryout with the Bermuda Football Association last night. Kyle whose father attended Saint Mary's during the late seventies had a fairly good runout and was told he didn't look out of place. He currently only has his Canadian passport but I'm told the Bermudian papers are in the works. Edit: Thread moved to the World Soccer forum. nolando
Wonder why Bermuda would be holding tryouts at this time of year?

spursfan
sorry about placement. Bermuda season runs through the winter months when temperatures are more suited for play.
Cyrus
Bermuda's Under-23 program has matches against Trinidad and Tobago's U-23's on 28 Dec and 1 Jan, both games are in Hamilton, Bermuda. So it would make sense that they would be doing tryouts/kickabouts for university guys who are in Bermuda visiting family for the holidays. I plan on being at the game on the 28th -- I'll keep an eye out for Kyle, but it would be extremely unlikely for him to get Bermudian paperwork in the next week. It's the holidays. jpg75
^ Has he played for Canada at the youth levels before? If he hasn't, he'd be able to play for them right away without a Bermudan passport as long as one of his parents or grand-parents were born in Bermuda. Cyrus
FIFA eligibility rules continue to frighten and confuse me. However, I believe that he still requires Bermudian status -- a British Overseas Territory passport -- in order to play a match for Bermuda, whatever his grandparents' status is. I don't recall his name attached to any of our youth teams. However, Kyle can certainly play for Canada. If he wants us and we want him. spursfan
At present there are no plans for him to play in the friendlies. His dad is Bermudian and his mom Canadian. Kyle has never played for Canada and the reality is that he probably never would have. If he is able to make the squad and develope his game he will have opportunities to travel and play in games that most Canadian kids wouldn't. If a career in the game happens that would be an added bonus that I'm sure Kyle would welcome.
bettermirror
If he makes it, great for him. Is he even at a level to make Whitecaps PCSL?
Vigilante
Well, Killian Erickson (signed with Toronto FC's first team at 16) probably could have gone as far if he did not mess up his chance with TFC (i.e differences with the coach)
spursfan
After three days of training kyle was not feeling well and sat out today's session which was mostly tactical. In Kyle's words "they just warmed up, went over some tactics, did one high intensity drill and then called it a night." "wasn't feeling well at all tonight so i just watched, inter-squad tomorrow." They have been using him at left mid and left back as he is naturally left-footed.
spursfan
Kyle is on his way back from Bermuda with some confidence that he will be part of Bermuda U23 in the near future. Recently the Bermuda FA signed an agreement to develop their young talent in the USA. http://www.royalgazette.com/rg/Article/article.jsp?sectionId=70&articleId=7d9cc2f3003001c If all goes well Kyle will be residing in Bermuda this summer and will be part of that squad.
