Jay20
Our next Olympic Team. Boys born in 1989 and later? There is MNT Camp in January and now this. I'm very glad to see what CSA is doing those days.
FIRST ELEVEN
Is there a camp in January for 1989 or later? If so, is there any announcements that have come out on this and can we have a potential list on who may be invited.
jpg75
Jay20, do you have a link? I went to the CSA site and didn't see anything. But i did find a list of the U23 player pool: http://www.canadasoccer.com/players/olympic/male.asp?teamid=5 Looks like they haven't missed a name in that one...well, except for David Hoilett, which is probably indicative of his non-commitment to our youth teams. Jay20
JPG75, I don’t have any link, at least not yet. The info came from friend of mine who is very close to CSA. At this moment invitations for the camp had been send to the players. That’s all what I know.
Jay20
I'm not sure about it but looks like 7 players from Vancouver Whitecaps are going to Florida for U23 camp. Here is link: http://www.whitecapsfc.com/search_results.aspx

SeanKeay
I'm in Fort Lauderdale working the MLS Combine, anyone got an address on where the Canadian camp is?
FIRST ELEVEN
Has anyone got a completed list of players that have been invited, instead of going one by one who has been invited. The good thing is that the ADIDAS MLS DRAFT is also in Fort Lauderdale about this time and there should be a good amount of Scouts in that area. Hmmmmmmmmmm, I wonder if it was all planned this way. Ya Think? Very nicely done CSA. Hopefull it will give many of the youngsters a good oppertunity to be seen by the various Scouts for the many Clubs, near and far. After all, this is the CANADIAN NATIONAL UNDER 23 OLYMPIC CAMP! Vic
I noticed there are 200 players in the CSA U23 link. What's up with that? The Americans top out their pools around 60-70 with some of their teams, but they are flying them all in to team camps. How many of those kids are carded? loyola
I think the CSA did put everyone that is U-23 on the list. That includes some 14-15-16 yrs old who, except maybe for 1 or 2 guys, won't be part of the 2012 team.
bettermirror
That's good to hear about Saiko....haven't heard much from him. At his age I'd hope he can either be in Boro first XI reckoning or move on though, to be honest. Do we have a comprehensive list of eligible players? VPjr
some information has begun trickling in the past couple of days. I know of at least 1 player who impressed during the Francophone Games that has gotten called in. I'm digging around to get more names and will post everything I can get my hands on ASAP, hopefully before the CSA makes it official. Edit: Nana Attakora is definitely going to be at the U23 camp and likely will remain in Florida for the senior camp before heading off to TFC camp. loyola
I remember that the keeper with a polish name impressed during the Francophones Games. From what I've seen he hasn't seen much action with the Sunderland reserves this year. BTW, who's the coach? The CSA list our U-23 coach as "TBA". Free kick
quote:Originally posted by SeanKeay I'm in Fort Lauderdale working the MLS Combine, anyone got an address on where the Canadian camp is? I dont know for sure, but CSA used to use the same hotel out in Sunrise. It has soccer fields on the premises and thats where the teams used to train. I think it was a Hilton. It was prety close from Fort Lauderdale, on a rented car it took us something like 10 minutes to get there from the coast line/ beach area if Gianluca is lurking he my recall more details

loyola
Thanks VPjr! Weird as Julien Edwards is born in 1988 and wouldn't be eligible for an U-23 team in 2012.
SeanKeay
Yep you were right Tony... the Camp is at the hotel. I hope to stop by atleast for one session. Also, through an interview done for my site (www.mlsdraft.net) I found out that Drake defender Julien Edwards has been called up for the camp. http://www.mlsdraft.net/?q=node/270 quote:You've received a lot of attention lately with Drake's NCAA tournament run, the MLS Combine invite and also a call up to the Canada U23s. How have you been dealing with all the recent accolades? Edwards: To be honest, if you would of asked me four years ago, where i would be? or what I'd be doing after my senior year? I would of never in a millions years imagined being in the spot I am in now. I think the best way I've learnt to deal with it all, would be not to expect or get my hopes up. All I can do is play hard and give 100% and the rest is out of my control. In the end, soccer is a team sport, and I wouldn't be given these opportunities if it wasn't for my coaches but especially my teammates who have made me a better player/person on and off the field. masster
I must say, the list of clubs that those players represent is not that impressive. Albeit, in the past it has been the opposite and the results were not the greatest. Lets see what happens. Is Gala out of the mix?
Guest Ed
Are you making up some of those names in your mock draft Sean? I thought Two-Boys Gumede was a stretch until I saw the name after that one!!???!!

Is Gala out of the mix? judging players at this age by what club they play for is relatively pointless for Canadian players. So many of our players who are at "good" clubs don't play. I'd rather see players who were playing at a decent level get a chance to show what they've got vs. the boys with the more impressive looking resume. Maybe some of these boys will be spotted at this camp by a scout and end up somewhere more "impressive"
