Can someone refresh me on his options is this a Canada vs. Jamaica question? If yes I would think representing Canada is a no brainer based on recent head to head performances with Jamaica and the new hope and direction the sport has taken in Canada professionally. Is there another country he could represent, could he be holding on for a future England call up JDG2 style?

I think he is going to play for us eventually, why would he rush to get capped now we have nothing important going on at this stage? As he stated, he wants to keep learning everyday in training, which he can't do when he's away with the national team. Canada will be there when he is ready, perhaps at (or leading up to) gold cup 2011 he get his first cap. He will hopefully have 2 EPL seasons behind him by then.

I wouldn't hit the panic button until I hear he has plans to apply for UK passport.

Just a blurb in the Sun after the weekends matches...

Blackburn winger Junior Hoilett, 19, provided the only other highlights.

The Canadian whizkid, who made his full league debut here, gave the hosts a torrid time and looks a future star.

Good interview. There's nothing in the article that suggests that David is leaning to Jamaica or England on the international level, but rather just concentrating on his club career. Instead the article presents a positive experience while wearing the Canadian jersey during his early years,

so I wouldn't worry too much about his choices until something definitive is declared.

wow you really *****footed around the one issue that matters.

is he in contact with the jamaican FA? is he considering jamaica? would he consider any other options outside canada and jamaica? how many times has he turned down a canada cap? why does his dad still hate the OSA/CSA over something that happened years ago? how would attending a camp or a friendly for canada affect his 'role' with blackburn? does he feel canadian? does he want to help canada get to a world cup or not? does he only care about making a buck off of football? does he have any pride in his country's football at all?

I figure that the opening blurb at the start meant that he really didn't want to talk about his national alliance yet.

Its tough when you are just a blogger trying to hammer out answers, you have to be really nice or the guy just walks off and you are f'ed without an interview.

Good on you guys for getting the interview with him. Not overly optimistic about him playing for Canada which is disappointing, but I can also understand if he doesn't want to have anything to do with the international scene right now given where his club career is at and the potential benefit of playing friendlies in Moldova or wherever the nats went this fall.

I've pretty much stopped going to the site because of the flicker...

Sorry guys...The site has now been fixed. There was an issue with the commenting function in FireFox 3.5 and up. I had to take the site apart piece by piece to finally see the issue.

I hope you'll return.

Just wanna say you guys at Red Nation Online are doing a bang up job, it's turning out to be quite a site.

Also it feels like there is about 10x the information out there about Canadian football, then just 2 years ago. All the blogs and sites, etc.

So he is eligible for us, Jamaica, and England (but that requires a passport still, yes?), so between us and Jamaica I don't see why he wouldn't choose us. He's been in our program, and hopefully Hart will be able to come through on his attempts at convincing players they are needed in our red and white.

"Curiosity killed the cat" should be changed to "Optimism broke the naive Voyageur" [:P]

Thanks Kibby. That means a great deal to us. All the best.

I also think you are doing a terrific job.

Regarding young Mr Hoilett, I suspect Stephen Hart can more easily talk to him man to man than any previous Cdn coach. We'll see.
