hc1
I just noticed that one of my favorites, Diana Matheson has had her rights picked up by St. Louis in the WPS. I hope that comes together for her. http://www.womensprosoccer.com/Home/stlouis/news/general/091206-diana-matheson-rights.aspx I wonder if Rhian Wilkinson will get picked up by someone in the WPS too... Jon Que
It's about bloody time someone in WPS recognized what a valuable player she is. One of my Favs for sure. A few more D.M.'s on the CWNT and we would be in a lot better shape. Best Canadian Midfielder easily.
mtlfan
I remember when she showed up in Lachine to prepare for the friendly with England. A smart player for sure
The Ref
Another great midfielder was Amanda Cicchini who unfortunately got fed up with the women program.
gringo
Dianna was one of the few success stories of Pelerude. She had been playing in Findland for quite some time and I'm glad she's coming back to this side of the pond. In the friendly played last summer at BMO against the USA, I thought she was the best Canadian player. Albeit we did get thrashed that day. Amanda Chichini was a great little midfielder but was not a Pelerude type of player and so gave way to `the ball thumpers at the time. I think she has finished in US College degree and may be returning for a fifth year as a post grad student. One of the kids I hope Morace calls back as she has done with others such as Moscato. The Ref
Is Matheson another casualty to join the fate of Latham and Nonen? I thought Matheson had been signed by St. Louis Athletica, but she is no longer in their final roster.
hc1
Not sure exactly what happened, but I don't think she ever made it even as far as training camp. I suspect she may have been affected by demise of the Sol, and the extra internationals that were dumped on the market at that time. Its a shame tho. A few weeks ago Rhian Wilkinson made a brief comment about the situation: In the politest terms I can manage, the United States based WPS League dropped the ball big time in allowing one of Canada’s top players to get away from them. No matter, their loss will almost certainly be LSK Kvinner’s gain. The WPS may be one of the top women's leagues in the world when you take into account average salaries and owners' investments, but what I have seen of their player management relations so far through friends, has been far from excellent, or even professional!
