Sparta Prague/Copenhagen is about to kickoff. Both teams sit on 7pts points. I believe Copenhangen must win to advance, while Sparta needs a draw or victory.

Right now it is snowing in Prague.

Hutch is in the starting XI, and indeed FCK will need a win as they are behind Sparta by 1 goal on goal difference (FCK 4-4 = 0, Sparta 7-6 = +1).

Klukowski is also starting as Brugge host Toulouse in another battle for 2nd place. Brugge sit on 8 points while TFC have 7 points.

LEAGUE ROUND-UP

MIDFIELDER Jaime Peters has signed a new contract which will keep him at Ipswich until June 2013.

The 22-year-old arrived at Portman Road in 2005 and his current deal had been due to expire this summer. But the Canada international is delighted to have extended his stay.

"It's a nice Christmas present and I'm obviously very pleased to be given the chance to stay," said Peters.

"I think I have progressed as a player this season and I'm enjoying playing under the manager."

"Klukowski knalt vanop zowat 25 meter net over."

I'm curious: did his effort have too much knalt, vanop, or zowat?

Congrats to Klukowski and his club. Has he had any recent overtures from other leagues for his services? Germany, for instance?

Also, congrats to Hutchinson with his club advancing, as well as to Peters on his contract extension: happy Christmas, boys!

And as reported in Canucks in Germany thread, Adam Straith had his amateur contract torn up and has signed a new 3 year pro deal with Energie Cottbus.

I heard on the radio about another Canadian that is now involved in management in England. Mark Bircham! He has risen from youth team coach to co-Manager at QPR in the wake of the Jim Magilton suspension.

Well that didn't last long.
