Havoc88
Not to hijack Ian Kennett's thread ... Do/Could we have the players/formation to qualify? Including fence-sitters? If JDG2 doesn't get a sniff in Holland would he come back? 2008 was supposed to be the team, but if Hoilett comes through, and the current crop of defenders keep seeing the pitch and developing, the future starting XI might look better. http://www.rednationonline.ca/December_2013_Canada_Receives_Difficult_World_Cup_Draw_dec_10_09_column.shtml
JoshieScores
that's brilliant. i think klukowski should still be a starter on the left side as peter is more suited as a winger. hanault as a RB? hmm... not sure if he has the pace. where is brennan??? lol

Champs
Below is a list of players that will be eligible for selection come the 2014 World Cup. Our to strongest positions have to be or defence and midfield. Goalies Keenan Gracey Michael Misiewicz Robert Stillo Adam Street David Monsalve Haidar Al-Shaibani Josh Wagenaar Defenders Fabrice Lassonde Gino Mauro Paris Nakajima-Farran Derrick Bassi Kennedy Owusu-Ansah Eddy Sidra Greg Smith Marco South Adam Straith Alex Supernant Nana Attakora-Gyan Mike Klukowski Adrian Cann Marcel de Jong David Edgar Nik Ledgerwood Andrew Hainault Dejan Jakovic Midfielders Gabe Gala Janiel Hoillet Matthew Lam Kyle Porter Sean Rosa Shaun Saiko Atiba Hutchinson Issey Nakajima-Farran Andrew Ornoch Jaime Peters Gavin McCallum Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault Will Johnson Tyler Hemming Julian de Guzman Forwards Abdoulaye Sylla David Hoillet Iain Hume Simeon Jackson Toisant Ricketts Frank Jonke Rob Friend Igor Pisanjuk Julian Ucello Olivier Occean ALi Gerba
jpg75
^ That list is a start, but there are some current MNT players you have glaringly omitted in that list: Lars Hirschfeld Kevin McKenna Adrian Serioux Josh Simpson Patrice Bernier Dwayne DeRosario Most of these guys will be in their early 30's when WCQ starts, still young enough to contribute. Looks a little bottom heavy with current youth players, alot of those kids will probably not develop into MNT players. And you've omitted Haber and Edwini-Bonsu who started at forward ahead of Pisanjuk and Porter on the U20's.
Keegan
I don't see Monsalve ever being a first choice starter for the CMNT, Youngsters Stillo, Street, Latendresse Levesque, Misciewcz are all making great strides and who knows where Wagenaar and Hirsch will be. Wagenaar will be just 27 for the start of next qualifying, he has a few cycles left in him. On the backline for next cycle I think the core will be Attakora, McKenna, Jakovic, Hainault, Klukowski, Edgar and De Jong and then 1 of Nakajima-Farran, Straith, Suprenant, Sidra will likely step up. Maybe Vittoria? In the midfield the core will imo be unchanged really (which is good) with Hutchinson, De Guzman, Johnson, Peters, Nakajima-Farran, Simpson, Ledgerwood and then question marks like Massey, Ornoch (unless you count him as a FW), JBB, Hemming Up front the core will be Friend, Jackson, Gerba, Hume, Haber, Occean, Hoillet hopefully then prospects who could step up like Edwini Bonsu, Ricketts, Bunbury The depth is getting a lot better at least! Ivan
We need a destroyer in front of the back four. deGuzman & Hutch have not been doing that adequately IMO. A healthy Serioux? One of the young CBs?

A healthy Serioux? One of the young CBs? My sentiments, as well. Can't see it being Serioux, however. A younger player needs to break through in that role. If Johnson can muscle up somewhat, than perhaps it's him: he's got the quick passing/thinking skills and tactical sense for the job. Otherwise my wild card, long shot-but-doubt-it-will-happen is Jakovic.
Obinna
Nobody in our pool has the quality to start in centre midfield ahead of Hutchinson and DeGuzman, So unless some youth player really develops in that role I don't think we are going to see our centre midfield change by 2012. Havoc88
The younger Hoilett can play midfield I believe. He'd be 21/22 by 2014 - but I'm sure his commitment would be linked in with his brother's.
bettermirror
Is Ethan Gage not an option moving forward??? Sounds as though injury inhibited him at Wolfsburg....surely not his last kick at the can. Especially if he's in the CM for Caps in 2011 MLS.
