CoachRich
Interesting development coming for from the governement in the AGM of the Canadian Yachting Association which is the NSO of sailing/boating. "The AGM also passed a new by-law which introduces a required gender balance to the Board of Directors. The effect of the by-law, when including the Athlete Directors, is to ensure that there are at least three directors of each gender on the Board. Annette Wildgoose, who represented Sport Canada at the AGM said: “I am particularly pleased to note that after many years CYA now has 3 female representatives on the Board of Directors. As you may be aware this is part of the National Accountability Standards that drive the Canadian Sport Policy through the NSOs as it relates to governance and technical development.” -- Links - CYA AGM - http://www.sailing.ca/features/annual_general_meeting_report/ Canadian Sport Policy http://www.canadianheritage.gc.ca/pgm/sc/pol/pcs-csp/index-eng.cfm
Vic
Hey old man! Hope you're well Rich. Very interesting, I'm going to give it a read. Along the same lines I came across this image the other day: It's the English FA Women's Committee. Who else has a Women's Committee? Well for starters: FIFA, UEFA, CAF, Nepal, South Africa, Ireland, England, Guam, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Laos, Botswana, Indonesia, Kuwait, Japan, Greece, India, Egypt, Guyana, Bangladesh, and the Cayman Islands. Yes the same Cayman Islands of 50,000 people who's U17 team are coming home even with two away goals against a team representing 10,000,000 people in the Dominican Republic. I guess with nearly half a million female players we're too small for a women's committee though.
CoachRich
Actually CSA has a Female Committee in their constitution. CSA said it was working but they couldn't tell us who the members were or how to get a hold of them. We gave up asking as none of the players contacts knew of anyone on the FC. Just spin so hopefully this CSP is workable for the CSA. Then maybe it will filter down into the PSO, Youth Districts & clubs as they are separated due to gender bias Old is right but looking good. Hope all is well with you & you are looking forward to Christmas holidays with those dear to you. Btw lots of interesting admin going on with the NASL & MSL, MSL players getting support from FIFPro & etc. Maybe we will see change at the top in the development mode :-)
