Looks like tickets will still be scarse

Is that not a very big gamble buying that way.

It can be, but the real problem is that you will pay more than you should as you are dealing with scalper scum. There are always plenty of them at TFC games, so if you are willing to pay extra, then getting into a game is no problem. Make sure to study BMO's layout first, so that just by learning the section number you know what you are getting and if you will like those seats.

Some supporters groups (ex U-Sector) operate their own ticket exchange where they sell their extra/unneeded tickets at list price (no scalping). If you are a TFC fan then you could pick a supporters group that you like and post on their forum(s) during the winter so they get to know you before the season starts. Going to that particular groups' pregame bar would be a good way to put faces to forum names and to pick up tickets you agreed to buy on their exchange.

Single game tickets are sold over the net by ticketmaster, but you have to know which morning they go on sale and be damn fast as entire games sell out fast. Some tickets are held back for game day sale, so calling TFC direct is also an option.

MLSE have done very little to get rid of the scalpers. I hope that the North stand is built and sold as single game tickets (Paul Beirne suggested they would be) as an extra 1249 cheap seats would make next year alot easier for those without season tickets and maybe change the supply/demand ratio just enough to convince some scalpers to move on and relinquish their season tickets.

As for ticket master when you say they sell fast what are you talking aout is it minutes or hours or days.Aslo when do they start listing them on ticket master.

Some games will be gone in minutes, other games may have random singles left for a couple of hours.

You have to remember that TFC has been a scalper's haven. That is starting to change, and I hope that the North Stand is built and alters the supply/demand ratio to force scalpers out, but it is still a problem. Professional scalpers use software to purchase alot of tickets off of ticketmaster in seconds, so key games like the home opener and LA Galaxy (scalpers get big money from girls who don't follow TFC but think Beckham is cute) are gone almost instantly. If you are looking for 1-2 tickets for a midseason weeknight game, then it is not too hard, but if you want four or more tickets for the home opener, then it is very hard.

Preregistering an account with TM might make it quicker. Going to an outlet and getting the clerk to yourself right at the opening to go right in and grab some could work. The key though, is to know the stadium layout, pricing guide, and season schedule by memory, so you can figure out in advance which games will sellout first and which interests you, because you won't have time to think when the window opens.

Each Spring, before the season starts, is when they tend to release the main bulk of single game tickets. Some tickets are held back though, and some (very few) are not sold until the morning of the game. You can call TFC to find out, or occassionally check with Ticketmaster, but the forums always give a heads up. This forum has an ok level of traffic, but you may want to join or atleast lurk on some of the SG's forums as they tend to have all the TFC-related details. Like I mentioned before, some of the groups have their own ticket exchange where members can buy unneeded/extra tickets from others at list price, so joining a group that operates an exchange and making friends over the winter might give you another option for acquiring tickets next year.

Those are your best options. If all else fails, then there will be plenty of scalpers there to buy from. If it is raining, or you wait abit (ex: until after the national anthems), then they might unload at close to list price. I'm not sure you would want to come down from Ottawa for a game without having tickets secured first, or to miss the start of the game.

Online services like Ticketmaster were supposed to make it easier for folks to buy event tickets, instead all they have done is facilitate scalping and make it more difficult than ever for regular folks.

If someone would step up to the plate in the GTA and get a North American Soccer League franchise the ordinary folk could get tickets to a home game every second week.

Heck the city and MLSE should be pushing for a franchise given the revenue stream it will create on a ground share.
