I realize that this also could go in the MLS or USL forums, but I thought the angle on Lenarduzzi's influence was particularly interesting.

I know that my memory of Bobby is sometimes skewed by the lacklustre results as the CMNT head coach, so it is good to be reminded of what a positive he has been for Canadian soccer.

Credit must also go to the entire Whitecaps organization for the difficult path they are forging in North American soccer!

^in two attempts, Bobby got us closer to the World Cup than anybody else has since. It's hard to imagine when I think back to March 1997, sitting humiliated in a packed Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto seething with rage at the poor performance I had just witnessed from our boys, but we've never touched that level of achievement in more than a decade since. I think we owe Bobby an apology for the stick he got when we couldn't advance out of the hex that year.

As for the article, I don't think Haber can be considered an academy product, but otherwise, I like it.

I can't argue that, but Osieck did win a Gold Cup and had a good run following Bobby's tenure.

Regardless, Bobby is a legend of Canadian (and North American) soccer.
