nolando
One of those topics that comes around every once in a while, I came back from the game last night wondering what those Whitecaps players must be making in a year. Most recent speculation I could find was a blog on the 08 Timbers which speculated: $30,000 – $40,000 Chris Brown Andrew Gregor Takayuki Suzuki (Maybe more, but I read somewhere he was considering a $30,000 offer from a team in Hong Kong) Scot Thompson Leonard Griffin (was making $45,000 at Columbus) $20,000 – $30,000 Chris Bagley Shaun Higgins Tom Poltl Tim Karalexis Justin Thompson Cameron Knowles $15,000 – $20,000 Ray Burse ($17,700) Troy Ready Arsene Oka Miguel Guante Kiki Lara Neil Dombrowski Tom Taylor Lawrence Olum $12,900 and less Scott Bolkan ($12,900) Vardan Adzemian ($12,900) Jordan James http://timbers.theoffside.com/player-news/portland-timbers-salaries-a-guestimate.html
nolando
To be fair the Timbers are known to be one of the lower paying USL sides. For comparison, the Sounders brought along a lot of USL guys, and also seems to have found better bargains for impact players than a lot of other MLS sides. Their most recent salary list came out yesterday: http://gosounders.com/2009/10/01/salaries-are-updated/ If I had to guess, it seems like the Caps salaries could well be in the same ballpark and range as the 5-figure numbers in the Sounders list. Of course, (I think?) the Caps numbers would be in Canadian dollars, but that doesn't seem unreasonable to me given the extended season and training responsibilities that were added in recent years. Any others want to speculate/divulge?
