Saw this on the Inverness Web site:

"With the transfer window about to slam shut the Club has announced it has signed former left back Stuart Golabek on a deal until the end of the season from neighbours Ross County following Richard Hastings move to Hamilton Academical."

I think Accies might be in tough to not get relegated this year unfortunately with McCarthy and Offiong leaving.

Definitely looks like Accies or Falkirk to go down at the moment. Falkirk's manager last season, John Hughes, left to take the Hibs job and their new manager, Eddie May, may not have the experience needed to keep them up. With Accies a lot will probably depend on whether some of the money received for McCarthy gets used to strengthen the squad in the January window. If you are an Accies fan BTW, is your username anything to do with Gary McDowell?

One year deal for Richard Hastings according to the BBC:-

I doubt anybody on here will know much about the inside goings on at Falkirk but the other keeper, Robert Olejnik is only 22 and has limited first team experience so I suspect Wagenaar was brought in to compete for the starting role rather than as cover. Losing to Celtic, Hibs and Dundee United so far probably isn't seen as the end of the world as those three clubs would normally be expected to be top six teams. For an SPL struggler the games involving Hamilton Accies, Falkirk, St Johnstone, St Mirren, Motherwell and Kilmarnock are the most important ones and anything gained beyond that (especially against the Old Firm) is a bonus.

No Bringback, I am not an Accies fan just a big fan of the Scottish leagues. I watched Hamilton after they went up last year a little more closely, have to admit I am curious about McDowell now though! As an exchange student I lived in Melbourne, screen name randomly came out of the AFL team I went to there.

I'd actually be mildly surprised if Falkirk goes down, I think St. Johnstone is more likely to be battling with Hamilton come year end. I dunno about current form but Falkirk are actually pretty solid in mid and on d for a bottom 4 team, they just have absolutely no goal scoring. From what I know Barr, McNamera, Arfield, O'Brien are all solid players. They are hoping this Finnigan guy from Newcastle youth is going to score this year as they released Lovell their top scorer (with a massive 8) last year this summer past.

Total aside but they just completed that new stand and the stadium is actually looking really nice!

Makes sense. Last season's left back for Accies moved to Burnley earlier in the transfer window and I think the guy they thought would step in and replace him is out injured until Christmas. From an ICT standpoint it may be a bit of a salary dump as they got relegated from the SPL last season.

Don't doubt it.

All the SPL teams are taking a hit on TV revenue this year with Setanta renegotiating their deal but ICT will be out 2M pound with relegation and NO PARACHUTE money. That's a huge hit for a small club.

Expect Hastings requested a transfer and Inverness were happy to oblige.

Hamilton had a horrid start to the season last go around, a decent watch for a last placed club (honestly, they were game!) but still DFL for much of the winter if I recall correctly. Did they cheat the hangman in the end? Don't know, Inverness were crap, but I can't imagine them being far from the chop again this year.

I was pretty sure there would be a Melbourne connection to your username. Back in the early years of the old NSL there was also a team called Footscray JUST (a pro-Yugoslavia ethnic team). In the late 70s/early 80s (memories getting a bit hazy) the Accies captain at the time, Gary McDowell (Kenny McDowell, the Rangers first team coach is his younger brother), emigrated from Scotland to play for them. He later went on to play for Australia about 25 times.

Interesting connection and nice memory. Dunno how Aussie soccer is doing these days, I was there a few years back before the new league and it was not far removed from being really divided down ethnic lines. South Melbourne were strong in the NSL but the Swans were long gone. Still follow the Bullies a little and will be tuned in to their finals footy although I expect Geelong will be tough.
