jpg75
This story has him going to Valencia: http://www.vi.nl/Nieuws-item/169172/De-Guzman-dicht-bij-transfer-naar-Valencia.htm translation thanks to Google: Jonathan de Guzman will this week sign a contract with Valencia, where his agent Jan de Visser reached an agreement with the Spanish club. De Visser discusses Tuesday with a delegation of Valencia the details of the transfer. The Spaniards are looking for an attacking midfielder after the departure of Argentine Ever Banega to Everton. It is Ruben Baraja injured and several months of circulation. De Guzman wants to move to Spain like to make. Valencia fits perfectly into the profile he had exercised his new club, a subtopper where he is likely to play every week to come. "If I then leave Feyenoord for a club that suits me and i really want to have," De Guzman said Sunday after his star still act against Roda JC (4-0 win), where he has two world goals. That De Guzman was to leave, was certain. Feyenoord is unfortunate for him not much yield. Last season Manchester City offered fourteen million but that deal bounced off after procrastination Feyenoord general manager Eric Gudde and the then technical boss Peter Bosz. De Guzman then got injured his meniscus, making him the rest of the season was out of circulation. Since then he put his mind on a transfer and refused to renew his commitment expired. Cheeta
If true that's some news to be sure. Hard to imagine Feyenoord holding on to him for too long. Not meaning that as an insult or anything it's just the reality of Dutch football. Bigger and better challenges/opportunities will always lay beyond Holland's borders. Guest Jeffery S.
Phenomenal place to be for the kid, however Dutch he may be. I like his football, feel sad about his national sentiments. And sure hope his brother gets something soon because I have not seen a single speculation or news article on Julian in over a week. What gives? BTW and edit: not a word about Jono and Valencia out of Spain yet, indeed, Banega is still considered to be a Valencia player. So premature or scoop or wild rumour? jpg75
The latest twist from VI has Chelsea bidding, and Banega resisting his exit from Valencia: http://www.vi.nl/Nieuws-item/169217/Chelsea-mengt-zich-in-strijd-om-De-Guzman.htm Translated by Google: Although the preference of Jonathan de Guzman (21) still paid to Valencia, Chelsea have now also mixed in the fight for the signature of the Feyenoord midfielder. A delegation of Chelsea saw De Guzman Sunday excel at the game against Roda JC. The London club is ready to seriously bid for the Feyenoord, but it is still second choice. The midfielder has put his sights on an adventure in the Primera Liga for Valencia because he thinks a lot of games to come. The Spaniards want to Guzman in the very short term contract, but subject thereto Ever Banega. Argentinian to leave at Valencia, thus providing a path for De Guzman. However Banega wants to stay and fight for his chance. He ignored an offer from Everton and are also unwilling to consider a contract proposal from VfB Stuttgart. The Germans are round with Valencia, but get no contact with the player. Although De Guzman still assumes that his new club Valencia, is the Canadian born in the waiting room until Banega has put no signature. Only when the Argentinian really stick to its guns and in Spain, off the business of De Guzman supervisors to plan B. Then Chelsea comes into view. The Blues have long been associated with the Feyenoord midfielder and now want to do business. The fact that De Guzman is not much need to cost a transfer to Chelsea attractive. The youth international future in doubt, however, have the winner of the FA Cup because he is not sure of much playing time in the stars team coach Carlo Ancelotti. He fears to be borrowed, and will not sit still on loan to other clubs to play. In any event, De Guzman working on his last week at Feyenoord, the club who was twelve years old brought to Rotterdam. Last season, the Rotterdam has ignored an offer of fourteen million from Manchester City on De Guzman. An expensive mistake, as the midfielder for much less money goes out the door. jonovision
In the news today, Jonathan tells that he's interested only in Valencia, as he would have a better chance of getting playing time there than with Chelsea. Which is, I think, a smart career move.

Rivaldo
10 things you need to know about Chelsea transfer target Jonathan de Guzman 2) A tough-tackling midfielder, Jono - as he's known - has been hailed in his homeland as Holland's answer to Owen Hargreaves. He's been compared to Hargreaves in his homeland (Canada), but not for his style of play. 4) There was a degree of controversy over which national team de Guzman would plump to represent. His eventual commitment to the Netherlands caused uproar in Canada, to the extent that de Guzman made a TV appearance to apologise for his choice. His younger brother Julian plays for the Maple Leafs. I must have missed that apology. And Julian is his older brother. john tv
of course Julian is no 1 so is Jonathan and Dwayne and Paul and Serioux ,we have our team of no ones, just that reaching this level is very special among them. I hope he makes that team, which he did in the Olympics.I realize all that hoopla about his chosing Holland and he knows that I wanted him to play for Canada, but this talent and really having his roots now in Holland including having Dutch children he is now Dutch.Anyway Jonathan do all these Scarborough coaches proud and score one for the Robbie. jpg75
Pretty sure he's under contract until next summer. Players may sign with a team in another league 6 months before their contract expires. If his contract was expiring in the winter he would have been able to sign with either Valencia or Chelsea for free now and wait until the winter window to join them. I'd expect to hear more about his situation in January. BTW, Chelsea was offering 4M Pounds which these days is 4.5M Euro.
SCF08
Feyenoord haven't received any serious bid from top sides like Chelsea or Valencia. Valencia would have made a bid if they managed to sell Ever Banega to Everton. The only team that made an offer were CSKA Moscow and De Guzman didn't want to leave Feyenoord for them. De Guzman missed whole of last season due to injury so it's good that he's staying with us. I wouldn't rule him out renewing his contract with a low release fee of 8 million Euro's or something. http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/3262293/ http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/3262592/ Couple of goals 2 weeks ago...getting his old form back. earlimus
Goal.com is again claiming that Valencia are interested, and will move to buy Jonathan come January. Aston Villa are also interested. Villa and Silva are both showing top form, and with Mata and Pablo Hernandez also showing some great promise, Valencia might be making some money come January. That would create a lot of room for the little DeGuz. Also, and perhaps more importantly, the article makes reference to Jonathan's place of birth, and the fact that he's still eligible for both Canada and the Netherlands. Damn them for playing with us like this..... http://www.goal.com/en/news/12/spain/2009/09/13/1498973/valencia-to-bid-for-feyenoord-midfielder-jonathan-de-guzman
