Knock knock.

Who's there?

STFU Spiral, that's who.

Why do you waste your time chasing Spiral down? Why don't you do something constructive such as spending less than 5 minutes of your time writing an e-mail to the addresses posted in the other thread, to voice your concern to the Liberals if you care about the Whitecaps joining the MLS?

They have not said it will be a retractable. The Minister even suggested it could be another new dome.

The issue is not whether there will be a new roof. There has to be a new roof cause the old one is becoming dangerous.

The issue is will the government go back on its promise to the MLS.

Do you spend $ 25 million on a roof or $ 365 million?

Seems pretty simple choice to me.

Johnnie Monster, were you incapacitated when you suggested this on Southsiders:

Best case scenario: Gordo decides to toast the whole BC Place site for condos, and waves the magic wand (Significant Projects Streamlining Act) allowing the Caps to build on Kerfoot's waterfront site without city approvals. That way Gordo collects quick cash for the Pavco lands to balance the budget, and they get a pile of labourers off the dole and working at two sites.... demolition work at False Creek, and construction in Gastown.

It will be a cold day in hell before some guy with 16 posts on this board tells me I need to do more "constructive" work to make this stadium happen. Get informed or get bent.

Then again, you're probably just one of Spiral's many pseudonyms from the tickle fetish website anyway, so that means you DO know about my work on this issue, and you're just acting out like the same sad, aggravating little dink who should have been banned from this board ages ago.

And who sits on the board of governors?

Vancouver, Portland, Seattle, Toronto... all guaranteed to vote in favour of keeping Vancouver given the cash generated from potential rivalries.

And what markets are set to generate the most money for MLS?

Vancouver, Portland, Seattle, Toronto... and LA.

All the other owners in this league are drooling over the amount of $$$ these markets will pump into the league on an annual basis. You really think Kansas City and Colorado are in any position to talk about what's "good" for the league? They're bleeding cash out of every orifice, and Vancouver is a very attractive solution to their woes.

That's laughable logic. If Montreal were to gain Vancouver's position, Toronto would immediately vote for Montreal over Vancouver.

When you take Montreal into account, there is a perfect city to replace us, who have a SSS built, and only need $25 million to upgrade it.

Garber and the MLS Board of Governors will not hesitate to vote Montreal to replace us.

Note that we got in because the MLS liked the retractable roof and the renovations done after the Olympics. What many of you have missed is that at no time were the MLS & Garber interested in just the Olympic renovations. If the Olympic renovations were sufficient, our bid could have gone through earlier.

The bottom line is the MLS prefer that each city have a SSS. That means the retractable roof and post-Olympic renovations were just sufficient enough to get the MLS to reconsider. Without the retractable roof and post-Olympic renovations, we are back to square one - a venue that the MLS considered insufficient before our latest bid.

Frankly, with Montreal in the picture having everything in place except for the $25 million upgrades, there is sufficient reason for Garber and the Board of Governors to give our spot to Montreal. Kudos to all the Montreal fans that want in ... you just might get to do it one year earlier in 2011.

I HAPPILY invite the mods to confirm my IP address and Spiral's IP address, and to confirm that we are different users.

As for you Jonnie Monster, you sound alot like Brownbear as you have the same silly logic as him.

Iff the stadium roof is going to be axed in the next week due to the budget then a few emails isn't going to do anything. If you think it is then you should stop smoking field turf as the plastic is messing with your brain.

The current talk is the possibility of a P3 scenario, which isn't going to sit well with some people.

The Sun's Miro Cernetig (who's pretty informed on such things) has a very interesting article in this morning's paper. It outlines many of the options the government might be considering.

Not one of the options he mentions involves hanging the Caps and MLS out to dry.

So...stop worrying...

At 12:30 on CKNW Michael Smyth will be discussing the Retractable roof, or the cancellation of one, with Miro Cernitig.

Just heard Vaughn Palmer and Keith Baldry with Bill Good on CKNW and they feel the Retractable will be delayed indefinitely.

So I'm not sure why Lenarduzzi feels the Retractable is a done deal.

Mabey Lenarduzzi should get on with Michael Smyth at 12:30

so Johnnie Monster why don't you get on CKNW with Michael Smyth at 12:30 (Christy Clark show) as they've been advertising all morning that they'll be talking BC Place Retractable roof...

NW's website says the NDP says the roof upgrade is dead, so I guess we all know more than the NDP:

No clarity yet on BC Place Roof project

Still no word what the provincial government will do about the roof on B-C Place.

Plans for a state of the art, retractable roof now seem to be in jeopardy, potentially a victim of the severe economic downturn.

Tourism Minister Kevin Krueger revealed today the bids on the 360 million dollar project came in over-budget.

He says due diligence is being done.

The NDP says the roof upgrade is dead.

Krueger now says an announcement might not come until next week.

Off the top of my head.

1) Most of the Collages and Universities are getting money to expand

2) In Vancouver money was pledged to the Evergreen transit line, except now translink is talking about the Broadway/UBC line being a priority

3) About half of the mills in the province are getting money to become more energy efficient and green

4) In Victoria the Blue Bridge is to be replaced and $40m of the $66m needed is economic stimulus money

5) Iron Workers Memorial Bridge will be renovated

6) Prince George will be getting a new bridge

7) A new highway up North

a mega-casino hotel on the waterfront and a 22.000 seat stadium next to the train station.

a ressurected street car line from the casino to the stadium.

is this not the best option.

the owner of the ivanhoe pub is asking a hell of a lot of money to sell his joint.

wonder why?
