Is it getting harder?

"Trinidad is my dad's country and to play in the finals would be a dream but West Ham are more important. I am only thinking about the club at the moment and do not want to be distracted from that."

(Why I love him).

Ive been watching Zamora for a couple of years now with west ham, and to a lesser extent when he was with fulham. He was really hit and miss. In West Ham's 2nd season in the premiership (2007) he scored something like 6 goals in the first 5 games, and then basically disappeared for months on end. He's got bags of class at the right moment in time but on other days he's virtually non-existant as a player. He's very inconsistent.

Jamaica will have Zavon Hines (From West Ham) soon enough, he's been called into their last few squads.

Who can we poach?

Hines really hasn't played for West Ham yet, but I've followed Zamora for years as well. Streaky but when he's firing and you're on the other side of the field you're in trouble. Who will give a rats ass? Uhmmm, the teams that are in the last group of 6 to get the 3.5 qualifying sports for South Africa?

I don't think it'll do much good for T&T this go round. Even if they beat ES on Wednesday they'll still only have 5 pts. with home games against the US and Mexico and road games at Costa Rica and Honduras. I'd say they're pretty much f*cked.

I meant in the long run.

The question still remains, who do we have that we can poach? If this is the way the train is running, might as well hitch a ride going the right way and not get left behind in the dust.

We should poach players that come play over here.

Jamaica will conceivably benefit the most. Mexico will get players out of the woodwork, as will a lot of other Caribbean islands ala T&T. Make no mistake, Samuel and Zamora will add a lot to T&T. But really....still a team Canada should be able to beat I'd say.......until that is they get more like them.

I'm told that there are about 5 very good quality Jamaican players coming up through top EPL youth systems. Hard to say what type of players they'll eventually become but that's got to be encouraging for the Jamaican FA.

So, is there anybody to poach? Surely there must be a player or two who is playing somewhere in the world who could help out Canada . If the US can get Jermaine Jones, and T&T and Jamaica can get players, then we must be able to as well. I posted another thread awhile ago which asked the question: Is the CSA out hunting? Any ideas?

Cheers!

^ I like the idea of geting Orgill. The Gambian kids might be nice too if they decide to get Canadian citizenship.

I'm not sure White is going to ever be any better than the young guys we already have (Jackson, Uccello, etc...)

Zamora was a regular feature on a Fulham squad with a lot of attacking options last year. And Samuel is also a regular with Bolton. If players of similar stature were joining Canada a lot of people on the board would be promising 2014 qualification for us. It definitely will make T&T better but they are probably too far out at this stage for 2010.

It usually takes in-form strikers to get middle-of-the-pack teams into the cup. Look at what Adebayor did for Togo, or how Bosnia is on the brink with Dzeko. Also, look at how Croatia has fared without Eduardo.

I'd certainly like to have a player with the potential of Kenwyne Jones or the pedigree of Zamora in our pool.

Yeah, I have seen Bobby Zamora on a few occasions and I have liked his game. Who do we turn to? There is no sence in trying to secure players who are in Europe. but I think that we could have a chance with some of the foreigners who are playing in canada now. especially some of the young up and coming players.

I think if greater Canadian expansion occurs in the MLS (Ex. Montreal and Ottawa) there is the potential for overseas players to become Canadian citizens and represent our country (pending if they want/wish to do so). However, I do not foresee this happening any time soon just due to time constraints and the lack of Canadian teams currently in the MLS.
