CONCACAF out of Copa Sudamericana

Recommended Posts

This is somewhat related as it could've affected Montreal. Using the same criteria as the past 4 years, Montreal was due to be invited to participate this year as the highest placing team in the last CCL not elgible for this coming year's CCL. However, that's out the window as CONCACAF clubs (including Mexico) will no longer be involved.

Speaking as an Impact fan, the last thing we need this year is more non-league matches. I'd be happen if we could start letting in only 2 or 3 goals a match. Oh, and maybe even make the playoffs.

Is this more fallout from the recent conflict between Mexico and CONMEBOL? Could be quite heated if Mexico ends up 4th in the hex and has to play home and away against Ecuador, Uruguay or Argentina.

And keep an eye open to see if the coup in Honduras results in them being kicked out the hex. Kicking someone out of a competition for political reasons is rare, but it does happen.

Especially if such a decision could benefit Trinidad and Tobago.

Fifa would never allow that

Fifa would never allow that

They would definitely ban Honduras if any new laws or government orders tried to change how the Honduran FA goes about its work. They've shown they mean business when it comes to independance; see how Iran backpedaled on banning its election-protesting stars when FIFA threatened to ban them from all competitions.
