Radzinski sur le départ

http://www.footgoal.net/suite.php?selection=41104

Basically his Lierse Manager is saying that he has little chance of staying with them, he is open to sign with any team but would like to stay in Belgium.

The probability of Radz staying with Lierse is rather small. "Alot of clubs are ready to sign him, clubs in Belgium and abroad." says his agent."In the next few days, i will speak with Lierse", he explained to the Antwerp Gazette.

Radz is currently on vacation with his parents in Canada. The former Germinal Ekeran and Anderlecht player had explained this season on Studio 1 that he would like to play in the Jupiler League (Belgian top flight).

edit: Superbrad, your summary was quite good, i just went ahead and did a literal translation for everyone. (I'm half-french)

More news.

http://www.extrafoot.be/clubs/detailed/lierse/18580/

SUMMARY:

Radz wants to play in the elite league in Belgium - but it won't be with Lierse and it won't be in 2nd division. They say that clubs are ready to sign him despite his age and the fact he plays only half time. Lierse would like to get "something" for him.

Please correct me if I've summarized poorly.

The player had already announced recently that he did not want to stay in Lierse on a second division team. That is was the club announces. Radzinski leaves Lierse for another club!

Another club that could be from Belgium, if they are an elite club. If not, the Canadian sees only one option: Coming back to his country. The only questyion is if the clubs are ready to buy the services of an old 36 year old that hangs up only for one half.

The upper management says that they don`t want to keep him, but they don`t want to let him go for free.

Now you could spread the Radzinski to TFC rumours.

This is a very interesting line. It's suggesting Radz might play for a top flight Belgian side. If it doesn't work, they're saying Radz (who they refer as "the Canadian") will have one other option, a return to his country. Which would mean??? Canada?

I hope I get that right.

That's what I thought I read....I wasn't sure so I was relying on you guys to translate. That would be very cool.

Hey, TFC's got that designated player slot..

I'm sure that Radz would consider himself to be worth DP wages, but he really isn't - not anymore. He still has the skills, and maybe still the speed, but he is not a DP and TFC don't have the required cap space to pull it off anyways. DPs not named Beckham need to play every game and for 90mins.

If Radz could get over his hatred of Fieldturf, then he would be a great super-sub in MLS. His 30mins of running at tired MLS defenders would produce more goals than Barrett would in the first 60mins. Radz's entry coincides well with Barrett's cramping (even if that has been less of a problem lately). TFC would cancel Vitti's loan deal to pay Radz a decent (non-DP) wage.

Ultimately, he will play where his wife wants him to play. After the Tebily fiasco, TFC fans understand this.

Personally, I think that Radz would be a great fit in Vancouver or Montreal rather than TFC, but you mentioned the problem KAS: the money. I doubt Radz would come back to North America to play on plastic and take $50,000 a year.

If he did, of course, that would be fantastic. How much to Belgian second divisioners get paid?

I wouldn't be surprise if Radz asks 130-150k$ in Europe. Lierse players are very well paid as the owner is a rich egyptian. But if he comes back in Canada, I also think he knows the reality and would have realistic demands.

I remember he told some Voyageur in Belgium that Montreal would be his clear first choice if he came back playing in Canada.

Yep:

Q: Turning now to domestic soccer in Canada, have you given any thought to maybe playing one day for one of the three professional clubs: Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver?

T: You can cross Toronto off the list since the team plays on artificial turf. Montreal and Vancouver…why not? Especially Montreal since it’s a European type city and I really enjoy the lifestyle there.

He also has a Ferrari F450 which I imagine is a nickle or two to service so I Imagine that a Club is going to have to fork over somewhat and they should. The man can still play a very good game IMO.

Report @ Lierse.com:

It's a done deal. Tomasz Radzinski has extended his stay at Lierse for a further year.

Tomasz, who had earlier indicated that he would prefer to not remain playing in the Exqi League, has been convinced by the Lierse board and especially Maged Samy to stay.

CEO Neel de Ceulaer: “Of course we're delighted that Tomasz will stay with us for another year. But we're especially happy because he has made his decision after a long and constructive discussion. We have been able to convince him of our project. We have shown that we've strengthened the squad with a couple of experienced lads. This strengthening was for him proof that we really meant it. He had offers from various teams, but his only wish is to now, together with the whole team, become champions with Lierse. This pleases myself and Maged enormously. We can now really say that we're ready.”

Old Radz is much better than young Gerba he'd make USL players look foolish.

I wouldn't be so sure. Playing for one of the best teams in the third tier in England is probably a higher level than playing for one of the best teams in the second tier in Belgium and even if Radzinski is in Belgium for personal reasons there would be plenty of higher level clubs within a reasonable commute distance in that part of the world. Belgium is not a large country. I suspect TFC got the better player in 2009 and 2010 terms and that USL-D1 probably would be Radzinski's level right now if he returned. The window of opportunity for Radzinski in MLS terms was 2007 but he opted for Skoda Xanthi instead.

Radz is a USL1 player? Based on his most recent nats performances if Radz is a USL1 player the rest of our national team are USL 2 players on down to PDL players, and throw half the Mexicans and Hondurans in there as well cuz he sure outplayed their asses.

10 goals in 24 games is not what I would normally categorize as "warmed the bench" particularly given he was injured at the end of the season and was called up for international games. He was very much part of their core first team squad of 16 or so. At 27 Gerba might be a slightly better player next summer than he is right now. At 35 Radzinski could easily lose another step and be ready for retirement as a full-time pro. There are not that many Teddy Sherringham types who can play up front into their late 30s and early 40s.

Really mature stuff, Grizzly. Think the fact he wound up back at Lierse despite very publicly angling for a move back to a higher level says all that needs to be said. Great career but it's drawing to a close now. TFC already has a few players bordering on hasbeen territory so the right move was to spend the money on a player approaching the peak of his career.
