Mobiiiiiiiilio
It appears that Rohan Ricketts has played his last minutes with Toronto FC. He was on a guaranteed salary so the July 1st deadline on waiving MLS players or payout their remaining salary does not apply. One would assume that Ricketts latest twitter post means he is finished! https://twitter.com/rohanricketts

Richard
Toronto FC announced Wednesday that they have come to an agreement to terminate the contract of midfielder Rohan Ricketts. Ricketts, 26, was signed with the club April 11, 2008. He leaves Toronto with 39 appearances, 29 of those as a starter. The midfielder compiled 2,455 minutes and finishes with four goals, four assists, and one caution.

If a player is this unprofessional in public, I think it is easy to understand why he is not a good influence in the clubhouse. One can put up with a star player who is narcisstic and egomaniacal even though probably one shouldn't but an average player with such tendencies is cyanide in the dressing room. ottawaguy2009
I'm somewhat sad to see him go. I realize his attitude was somewhat egotistical. But I felt he was a pretty good player and should have been given more opportunity. 4 goals in 39 matches isn't terrible. And when you don't play with the guys in real game situations that often you don't have the same chemistry other attacking mids/forwards do. Had he made more regular appearances he may have found the back of the next 8 times instead of 4. I hope he finds a new home in MLS. I'm guessing Barrett's next on the chop block. (although his contract runs to 2012 or something?)
coppercanuck
I also liked Ricketts as a player, in his early days. I liked the way he was trying to develop a brand around his name but the performance on the field slipped. In building a brand you have to back it up with actions on the field. Off field stuff will also kill a players' brand, ie Micheal Vick. Rohan, best of luck mate. I hope you find your legs again and net a few more goals. TFC, something must be brewin', eh? 3 players out and only 1 (?) in. Who are we making room for?
Free kick
I too thought that his contribution on the field was good. I dont understand his release either although I suspect that his release was likely more related to the numbers game rather than performance. Once they signed Dero and brought in Cronin to a MF that included Robinson and Guevara the number$ likely didn't add up.
Tuscan
How much could it cost to get that Scottish striker the club had been talking to? Is he even a factor anymore? Also, is yet another defender likely, or what area is lacking most on the pitch once Gerba is signed?
BringBackTheBlizzard
Think the same poster on the RPB board, who knew about Ricketts being gone in advance of it happening has been saying that Jamie Smith is not being signed. I suspect Pablo Vitti is now seen as the answer to replace Ricketts at least short term.

However, Vitti in a wide position is wasteful. That's not his strength. In fairness, it could be argued that it is very hard to determine what area of the game he is very strong at other than dribbling. I personally believe his poor results are a result of lack of confidence and not playing close enough to Guevara but I'm biased in favor of Argie forwards. Tuscan
I tend to agree, as he's been paired more with DeRo than with Guevara. As Ricketts was an outside mid, and since Vitti is more of a central player, how could he be a replacement for Rohan? Wasn't there talk at some point about bringing in another wide midfielder? finchster
I would have gotten rid of Vitti. If Gerba is signed for $300,000 Vitti makes $300,000 on the salary cap. I am pretty sick of watching Vitti getting knocked down on the pitch by his hair
Loud Mouth Soup
For the curious, Rohan has been on trial with OB in Denmark. No offer as yet.
