TFCRegina
Hey guys, if anybody wants, a good number of TFC Fans typically meet at the Georgetown on Bank Street for the games. Probably not so many tonight, I'll be there though. So if you feel like joining us, come out!

TFCRegina
Only 3 of us tonight, lower than normal, but a number of us were out of town for various reasons. Still decent, considering its a town with only a PDL team.
ottawaguy2009
was going to come but checked the website and it said they were showing rugby matches all night. tried to call to confirm this but the line was busy. did they end up showing the TFC game? TFCRegina
They always show the TFC game. You just have to ask. They've never said no.

kyam
Ottawa TFC Fans Web Site Proposal</u> Hi folks, I gave this some thought and I think it might be useful for TFC fans in Ottawa to organize our communications a bit. So far, we have an unofficial HQ at Georgetown Pub near Bank and Sunnyside. And personally, I've met at least 7 or 8 random TFC fans across the city that really have no idea that their are other fans in the city, and I can betcha their are more. So I thought it might be useful for us to launch a dot.com that TFC fans can find online and get all the information they need on Game Viewings and possibly organized road trips (ie: To Montreal) in the future. The proposal will be tfc-ottawa.ca. The site will be simple, a blog style interface with an option to join a mailing list, and a very basic forum to discuss meeting times\locations and road trips I can get the site registered and hosted for about $30 Cdn ($25 US) per year. With five of us, it should cost us about $5 or $6 per person per year. Its a small price to pay to help get the word out and grow our small community in the Ottawa-Gatineau Region. Feedback is appreciated. Cheers!

kyam
quote:Originally posted by TFCRegina I'm down with it. Nice, I knew I had one ally. I don't want to give the impression that I want to ruin the adhoc nature of our groupie... This is more of a way for us to attract more folks. If we get enough people to at least fill every seat in that private room Georgetown Pub gives us, they might name the room after TFC I know I've been in touch with OttawaGuy via email, so it would be cool to get more on some sort of mailing list. We'll see, doesn't look like it, but I probably won't be drinking seeing as I'll probably have to go straight from work, and be up early the next day... That's central agency work for ya... just be glad we have job security dude! Besides, I know it will pay off in the long run...
ottawaguy2009
sounds like a good idea. although i figure there's gotta be a free way to have website. be it a blogspot.com site or whatever. if that proves to be successful then perhaps in a year you can upgrade to a private domain name and have a small membership fee. events can be organized: bus trips to TO for games, we can have a support the Fury night, etc. i'll try and make it to Wednesday's game at the Georgetown. (still need to get a jersey)
TFCRegina
I'll be there on Wednesday for certain, so don't feel like nobody will show. And yes, you should get a jersey or scarf, I heard Elgin Sports (on Bank?) has that stuff.
mulliganl
I'm going to try and make it to the Georgetown for wednesday night, no guarantees of course. Elgin sports downtown will definitely have tfc ware for you. And if they don't have what you're looking for, I'm sure the guy will order it up. From what I've seen, he's always willing to get that hard to find item for customers. I agree with getting a group together to watch the Fury out at Algonquin some weekend. I've been looking for an excuse to go and watch the team...

TFCRegina
Who says we don't? I know a couple of the guys from our ad hoc TFC Ottawa have, and the next game I want to go.

Yeah, a couple of us thought about getting Season's tickets for the Fury, its only about $100 to get them and I believe they are for both the Men and Womens teams. Whether we go to every game, its a nice way to support the club financially.
kyam
quote:Originally posted by Grizzly Man, Ottawa needs its own team ASAP. Yeah, I was really hoping that if the MLS bid failed that Melynk would back a USL-1 franchise... I heard rumors a while back that the Hunt group, that won the CFL bid is willing to bring in a USL-1 franchise to play in the same new proposed stadium... (still need to get a jersey) Hi OttawaGuy, I see your point. And I've thought about that as well. However, the main purpose of launching a site is to get publicity. It would also serve to organize us, but the main purpose is to attract new members. I figured a dot.com would be more "marketable" and appears far less adhoc. However, the dot.com would simply link to Wordpress.com or something (since they allow customizations) Figured at $25 US, you can't go wrong, most people pay far more. I'm perfectly willing to finance it, but it would be nice to get some help. If it fails to attract new members after the 1st year, then we can simply cancel the dot.com and leave it as a wordpress site.

I used to get Fury season tickets, but last two years I had TFC (half) season tickets.
