Look at this:

"“There is a rich history here – I don't think many people realize that it goes back as far as 1876 and until the First World War – the majority of people who played then were native born Canadians,” said Jose. “If you look at the First World War – thousands of Canadians went overseas and were killed – nearly an entire of generation of Canadians were gone and there was a vacuum created – in the demographic of young men.”

“Then we had this influx of British people who came into the game and almost took it over – I think the native born Canadians felt alienated from their own game that was actually theirs.”

This is great news and well-deserved. I've enjoyed his writings over the years, and his research has been a great help in understanding our history of the game.

Many of the important books he's written are now out of print. I think it would be great if he could get them re-published and back into circulation. It's kind of sad that we can go into a Chapters store and grab dozens of books on English football clubs, but we have virtually nothing on soccer in our own country.

Colin is a giant not only in Canada but also in the US.The US soccer Hall Of Fame created the Colin Jose Trophy for the media person elected that year. When Colin received his award on June 6th a delegation from the US hall of Fame were at the Banquet.I have known and worked with Colin since the early seventies and his contributions are legendary and in every instance of selecting a candidate it was the great research by Colin that made it possible.I also know that without Colin's work the existance of our Canadian Hall Of Fame would be very questionable if not impossible.Colin and I have some very common beliefs and we both agree that the media in North America has a very strong bias as he calls it against soccer.Colin's knowledge of specific media personal who have it in for soccer as wel as numerous examples are quite extensive.

His conclusion that soccer and hockey are great cousins and the crossover of many who played both is very extensive. They are very related and go back into the other other century.
