youllneverwalkalone
IIRC, Ipswich won a special exemption on a work permit for Peters. It would seem Rovers would be able to the same for Hoilett. I'd like to see him stay in Germany though. Big Sam rarely plays the kids, and there's no reason to think Blackburn won't be back in the relegation battle this coming season. Guest Ed
But it's been reported in the German press that Blackburn is trying hard to get that work permit thru the appeal process.
Guest Ed
Ouch. Not a good day for Rob Friend. While his pregnant wife of 8 months (wouldn't it be 10 months, I seem to recall a honeymoon???) -- ed. it might mean she's 8 months pregnant - congrats) and he were on vacation in Croatia, his place was broken into and both BMWs stolen. His house was also ransacked. Rob is not too happy and returning immediately from vacation to see what else was taken. Here's the story. Don't click links on Bild as they might not be safe for viewing at home or at work . http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/fussball/bundesliga/vereine/gladbach/2009/06/12/rob-friend/einbruch-bei-bundesliga-star.html
Jason
quote:Originally posted by Grizzly The Gladbach fans are not so happy about Frontzeck's appointment. His record as a coach has been poor and it seems that the main reason BM management hired him is that he played for them. I think FSV Frankfurt would be a good choice for Ledgerwood. It will be easier for him to establish himself at a smaller club than 1860. I actually went to a FSV Frankfurt game in the spring of 2008 when they were still in the old 3rd division. I had a layover of 8 hours before my connecting flight and there was no Bundasliga game in town so I took the train in to watch FSV instead. I was not terribly impressed with quality of play (about USL Div 1 from what I saw) or surroundings at the time (very small time). However, they were expanding their stadium with an eye of becoming more relevant. With their promotion and now staying in Bunda2 it would seem they are a team on the rise. loyola
Here's a little something for Ed. I think this article in romanian is suggesting Lars will be transferring to Energie Cottbus: http://www.stiri123.com/sport/2009/fotbal-portarul-lars-hirschfeld-cfr-cluj-va-semna-cu-energie-cottbus/ Portarul canadian Lars Hirschfeld, legitimat la CFR Cluj in ultimul an si jumatate, a ajuns la un acord de principiu pentru un transfer la formatia din 2.Bundesliga, Energie Cottbus, acolo unde evolueaza romanii Ovidiu Burca si Emil Jula, informeaza presa germana. youllneverwalkalone
^That would be great. And if things don't work out, he's a lot closer to a return to VWFC.
Guest Ed
^ Nothing concrete in that Bild article. Energie Cottbus management had no comment when asked about Hirschfeld. Another source has Hirschfeld and Kristian Nicht (Viking Stavenger and Alemannia Aachen) in the mix for the replacement for Tremmel. Funny as one forum member was quite quickly put in his place when he suggested Hirschfeld should not be looked at, with a few references to Lars' Champions League match play thrown at him. FCH
Looks like Kennedy has found a new home. In the article they say he is close to signing a contract with the reserve team. I hope he is more succsessful than Ryan Gyaki during his stay at Hansa. http://www.fc-hansa.de/index.php?id=154&oid=8608

Guest Ed
Lars Hirschfeld posts a shutout in a scoreless draw against a Danish first division side, Midtyjlland. Appears Lars is the new number 1. He also had a shutout a few days earlier against Chemnitz and apparently played very good. The only shadow on this is that negotiations for Tremmel's transfer have stalled and he has recently rejoined the team. It still seems probable that Tremmel will transfer but it is no longer the certainty that it seemed to be a few weeks ago.
Guest Ed
It seems that Jaineil Hoilett will be playing with FSV Mainz U19's for the upcoming season. Looking for more confirmation. Alex Elliott is still with the U23's for the same club.

Guest Ed
Oh boy, lots of news on the Hoilett front. Basically, David Jainiel was 90% probability gone to FSV Mainz 05 this coming season on a 1 year deal, which would leave him able to sign with the Bundesliga club at the end of the season when his contract with Blackburn expires. However, to the surprise of everyone, his work permit appeal was approved. No one expected this, least of all Blackburn it turns out. Now, Allardyce has to have a look at David and see where he goes from there. Mainz's management are firmly convinced that he will come to Mainz, his first choice. Reportedly EVERY Bundesliga club other than Bayern had expressed some interest in him. In the meantime, younger brother Jaineil has definitely switched to Mainz's U19 team.
