Thanks guys, my pleasure really.

Someone turns 19 years old tomorrow. Here's a hint:

Also of note, Blackburn Rangers are evidently presenting videos to the English FA of young Mr Hoilett in action this past season with FC St Pauli in order to get him a special ruling for employment with the senior club (I've only seen Yanks benefit from this so far).

Article the other day at the Borussia Moenchengladbach site praising Paul Stalteri:

Experience and Stability

With start of the back round, the new winter signing Paul Stalteri took over the right fullback position. Of 1,530 available minutes, he missed only the 90 minutes against Leverkusen, because of back problems.

The fact that that game was the season's worst defeat (5-0) is not only due to the loss of the Canadian. Yet a view of the statistics shows how important the 31-year-old was for the stability of Gladbach's defense. In the 19 games without him, Borussia on average gave up 2.1 goals against, and with him in the lineup, the average dropped to only 1.38 goals against. in addition, Paul Stalteri has contributed with his vast experience. This winter, when Hans Meyer looked for ways to strengthen the badly susceptible defence, it was clear that he wanted an experienced players to go along with the many young players in Borussia.

With his resume of 151 Bundesliga, 55 Premier League and 73 international games, the fullback, who was no longer in the Tottenham Hotspurs game day squad, fit the profile exactly. Also Stalteri had just gone through a baptism of fire in a spectacular relegation battle as he had joined FC Fulham in the back round 2007/08 . There he was successful in making up a 4 point differential after the 33rd round of games. At the same time he helped FC Fulham win three away games in a row for the first in the Premier League.

After his free transer to Borussia, the Canadian was an undisputed starter under trainer Hans Meyer. Up to the previously mentioned game in Dusseldorf against Bayer Leverkusen, he was always in the starting eleven. Not even once was he subbed out. At the same time , his concentration was always on making the right side of defense strong. Yet if the opportunity offered itself, he spurred himself on again and again into the 'Gladbach offensive efforts. His highlight offensively was setting up his fellow national team player for a huge 3:1 lead and eventual away win over FC Koeln victory on the 24th round of play.

ALSO OF NOTE, new manager for Borussia Moenchengladbach announced yesterday is ex-Gladbach player Michael Frontzeck, most recently manager of Arminia Bielefeld.

^ Ed, it's Blackburn Rovers

I think some Africans have benefited from the appeals process too. Pretty sure Togo was not in the Top 75 when Adebayor joined Arsenal.

Sorry, silly typo there. And I am sure you are right about the man from TOGO. Anybody remember Earl Camembert?

Any word on how his recovery is comming along? Any chance of capping him next month against Guatamala?

His recovery was going fine according to a close source a couple of weeks ago. I believe people from the CSA would actually have to talk to him about joining the GC squad, so I doubt it.

Lol! One of my (many) favourite skits on SCTV. Floyd Robertson doing the serious news about some earthquake in Togoland, while Camembert follows up with the fluff piece about the Mellonville cat show, or something along those lines.

Janeil Hoilett in action this weekend with FC St Pauli's U17's. A 2-0 loss to VfL Wolfsburg gave the VW team the title in the B-Junioren Bundesliga Nord/NordOst division.

In an article about 1860 wanting Karsruher's striker, Australian Joshua Kennedy, a short note that FSV Frankfurt are looking at Nik Ledgerwood.

"Schroth wird in anderer Funktion weitermachen bei 1860, womöglich als Trainer im Jugendbereich. Im Gegensatz zu Danny Schwarz. Für den Ex-Kapitän wird in drei Wochen auch seine zweite Zeit beim Löwen zu Ende gehen. Dem 34-Jährigen will Stevic keinen neuen Vertrag anbieten. Und auch Nikolas Ledgerwood, der in den letzten Jahren nie aus der Rolle des Ersatzmannes für Schwarz oder die Bender-Zwillinge Sven und Lars hinauswachsen konnte, wird die Löwen wohl verlassen. Nach AZ-Informationen liegt dem 24-jährigen kanadischen Nationalspieler ein Angebot vom Liga-Konkurrenten FSV Frankfurt vor."

FSV Frankfurt finished 15th and remain in the Bundesliga 2 next season.

ALSO OF NOTE, new manager for Borussia Moenchengladbach announced yesterday is ex-Gladbach player Michael Frontzeck, most recently manager of Arminia Bielefeld.

The Gladbach fans are not so happy about Frontzeck's appointment. His record as a coach has been poor and it seems that the main reason BM management hired him is that he played for them.

I think FSV Frankfurt would be a good choice for Ledgerwood. It will be easier for him to establish himself at a smaller club than 1860.

A bit more on Nik Ledgerwood's signing:

FSV has strengthened its midfield with the addition of Nicolas Ledgerwood. Ledgerwood comes in on a free transfer from TSV 1860 München and has signed a one year deal with an option for another year. .....

FSV head coach Tomas Oral is happy over the new signing: "Nicolas Ledgerwood fits into our concept of rejuvenating the team. He has the qualities to succeed with us. It's not surprising that several teams had interest in him. His signing shows FSV Frankfurt is now an attractive club."

Nicolas Ledgerwood:

Geboren am 16.01.1985

Größe: 1,78

bisherige Vereine:

-07/2002 Calgary Storm (Kanada)

07/2002- 01/2007 TSV 1860 München

01/2007-07/2007 Wacker Burghausen

07/2007-06/2009 TSV 1860 München

So I s'pose this knocks him out of the Gold Cup picture as well. Hell, at this rate, Dominic Imhof will be the grizzled vet of the team.

What's the deal with Ryan Gyaki? I thought he was released (he's still playing) or is his contract ending at the end of the season.

New manager for Kevin McKenna at FC Koeln -- the coke fiend is replaced by ex Liverpool and Olympic Lyon manager Gerard Houllier.

Some notes about the Bundesliga season

- Wolfsburg's strikers Grafite (28) and Dzeko (26) combined for 54 goals - best tandem in Europe.

- Hoffenheim's Ibisivec had 18 goals in the first 17 games - then blew out his knee. What could have been?

- Rob Friend, despite injuries, still led Borussia Moenchengladbach in goals with 7.
