kyam
So the TFC Reserve team featuring Greg Sutton and Rohan Rickets played a friendly against the Serbian White Eagles of the CSL. The game ended in a draw, 1-1... very impressive for a CSL team.

Eric
At the SWE Portugal FC game #8 was Carlos Zeballos for SWE and he was CSL defender of the year in 2008, you're saying that he did not know what to do and looked disoriented? wow I wonder what happen to him, because he is a very experience defender. wasup
Ive seen him play numerous times always as a central defender never covering the wing , big difference . Strong and tough defender I could see him having touble on the wing with speedy forwards . I saw him in the midfield in a preseason game , he scored and is dangerous in the air . VPjr
Carlos Zeballos has been working to make the transition to right fullback this year. Maybe he is struggling a little at the new position but he's a quality player. I'm sure he'll get it figured out. With the Astros, he always played in the middle of defense but with SWE, the CB positions are already covered by very strong players. #9 Sasa Viciknez is no spring chicken but that guy simply scores goals. He's a machine. He makes it look easy. #17 for SWE is Evan Millward. Nice player. a good compliment to Sasa. Works super hard. I'm very familiar with the young kid from the reserves who came into the game. I expect that he might see more playing time for SWE this season, along with a couple of other kids who play for the reserve side.
dj22
It's a shame that the match was closed to the public. I'm positive there would be a ton of both sides supporters at this match even if it were a friendly.
Eric
I personally think that it makes perfect sense to play these games with closed doors, these games are practices for TFC players who need more minutes playing games or subs who don't get to step into the field that often. This was not a league game and TFC did the right thing. I hope they will keep playing CSL teams and who knows, they might see somebody they'll like in one of those games and that would be very positive for everybody involved. soccer123
Please note that the SWE team also played without 5 players from the last year when they won a championship. Jankovic, Braletic, Vucinic, Radovic and Milicevic were not available for this game. The next game against TFC will be very interested one to watch. quote:Originally posted by Ultra_Serbs From what I saw only 4-5 standard first team players from TFC did not play. Also, there were 5 kids from TFC academy playing as subs in 2nd half. Dichio, Derosario, Brenner and that English guy (short, crew cut, light haired and blue eyed Burton, Berret or something like that) did not play. TFC scored from non existing penalty. But they did have 2 100% chances (one shot over the net and the other one save by Pelc) and one post. #8 from TFC (Latino guy with pony tail) made 2 legs sliding tackle from behind on Medic out of frustration. Goal for SWE scored Viciknez #9 after a perfect pass from Janjosevic #20 from free kick. Referees did not blow the whistle on obvious handball move by one of the TFC defenders in own penalty box. All in all, good result for SWE because if both teams realized the chances TFC should have won 4-3 (this is counting the non-existent penalty for TFC). TFC looked in better shape and more in sync than SWE (considering that they have been playing together since February and SWE since beginning of May, due to visas and late player arrivals). Technically, both teams were on similar level. As far as the new-comers for SWE, young kid #17 (I believe his name is Evan or Ethan) made a strong impression. He was running and battling for every ball. On the other hand #8 in SWE (new defender that came with Carbajal from NY Astros) did not know what to do. Looked disoriented, and he is to blame for some TFC chances in first half. Luckily, coach took him out toward the end of the half and put in a young kid from reserve side that did good job shutting the right side. Like kyam said good score for SWE. Ps. I had a chance to chit-chat with Dichio and Derosario. D-Ro is uncertain about playing at Gold Cup. I asked him is it because TFC will not let him play and he said no. TFC would let him play its just, that he will see how the club does prior to GC and then decide.

I've been told by one of the SWE players that not even last years captain Nick Budalic played in this game. I ask about Shane Lammie and Jonathan Hurtis and this player told me they didn't play either because they were injured but were present at the game. Also missing was the mexican player they had for the last two seasons, I think his name is Ricardo. So basically SWE missed a few more players in their line up than TFC did. Of course this was just a practice game, but some times players that are looking for a place in the starting line up play harder than the ones that know they're already in the starting line up. dj22
Yeah, Ricardo Munguia came about mid-way through the 2007 season and played in the beginning of the 2008 season then played in Mexico for Veracruz. He was an excellent defender and leader. The arrival of said players (Radovic, Vucinic, Budalic etc...) will help the Serbian White Eagles out a TON. soccer123
I forgot to mention that last year captain Nick Budalic was not available for this game. The SWE team was missing 6 players from last year. This year the SWE team will be very strong with these players.
