Former TO Maple Leaf & Former CSL Player dies!

Peter Zezel, a key member of the Toronto Maple Leafs 1993 Playoff run, AND a former Striker with the North York Rockets of the CSL has died.

Before he gave up Soccer for the NHL, he was a member of Canada's U-21 National Soccer Team, and played an exhibition match with the Toronto Blizzards of the NASL.

At only 44 years old, this gifted athlete died young. While he was a fan favorite among Hockey fans in Toronto and Vancouver, he easily could have been a star in Soccer had he chosen Soccer over the NHL.

I remember him a in a few games for North York Rockets. He'd often come in as a second half sub and he looked very stocky. He looked like a soccer player not a hockey player. He was in the team poster that also had a young Thomasz Radzinski.

I was truly shocked and saddened to hear about this. He really was a great human being and may God rest his soul.

They gave out the poster out at a home game back in 1989.

The only other copy I saw after mine was one framed on the wall of the now closed "Fire Pit" on Yonge Street in North York.
