Attakora is already a better player than Velez and I don't want to brag or whatever but I've known this for a while and apparently Cummins has too and I think Carver was sort of just going with the older guy. Speed wise he is light years ahead of Velez, with the ball at his feet he is a million times better than Velez and he is just as dangerous as Velez in the oppositions box. Velez has a height and strength advantage that is about it.

I want Attakora to stay in the middle as that is where he is going to be for the rest of the season. Here is the XI I want for LA considering this

----------Vitti------Dichio--------------

---De Rosario------------------Ricketts----

-------------Cronin--Robinson-------------

Brennan----Serioux----Attakora---Harmse

--------------Frei-----------------------

Harmse has a good amount of experience at right back in his career. Get him to play conservatively back there and let Ricketts do the running.

The top part (Mids and Forwards) I just threw together, I just want a combo of those guys not necessarily in that formation.

Disagree on the Velez with the ball at his feet bit. His distribution is actually one of his key strengths but Attakora is not too bad that way either. Certainly not a Julius James with the ball at his feet let's put it that way. Think Ricketts is finished after today's twitter stuff, unfortunately, so with no further roster changes a 4-2-3-1 is very much on the cards with Dichio up top and Vitti, De Rosario and Barrett in behind.

I tend to think Velez's biggest problem is that he gets himself in difficulty when he starts to overrate what he's capable of doing, both offensively and defensively, resulting in cranial cramps.

Harmse might start the Caps' away match, but I think his best role with this team is to remain the late game defensive sub for the likes of Guevara, et al.

I'd agree with this. The skill with the ball at his feet isn't so bad, its the decision making that can really suffer.

His other problem is the aforementioned speed. But whether its because he is playing on a better team this year than last year or he's improved a bit, he hasn't bothered me as much this year as with last year, when there were times I was hoping he'd never see the pitch ever again.

I think its not bothering you because he hasn't been playing week in and week out. And also Serioux is making him look good a lot of the time where as playing with Marshall they both really sucked and didn't make each other look good at all haha.

And his skill with the ball at his feet is laughable, I remember last year no joke he took a first touch that flew into the first row.

He's really not that far off. Sexioux and Attakora have had their bad moments, as recently as last game. Attakora will be the better than Valez, but it's not a one horse race for playing time as of yet. Competition is healthy, as is rotation in a roster as small as an MLS one.

And no, Valez is not that bad with the ball at his feet. HK should not play anywhere but CM, everywhere else his positional sense is way too slow.

Velez has been okay: he's had some poor moments (with the whiffed challenge on that one goal (by Ekpo?) at BMO really standing out), but I think he and the back line have also benefitted from the two holding mids in front of it providing a bit more of a shield, I don't know. He still has a long ways to go before he totally convinces me, but if he concentrates on the safe, meat-and-potatoes play, then he'll be okay.

I think his limitations can be hidden more in that position as opposed to elsewhere on the field. But his role as a late game sub for guys like Guevara is fine for this team.
