TFC with a huge 3-1 win over New England! Guevara scores 2 goals and DeRo nest the winner.

Only caught the last 10 minutes unfortunately but it would appear Dichio played a strong game today. Hats off to TFC for a well played game and their first victory ever over the Revs.

I know a lotta TFC fans are knocking Barrett and Pablo Vitti... but even tho Vitti hasn't scored and was a late substitution I thought his presence helped to immediately organize the attack.

While TFC played a great game, at times I found them to be disorganized and even sloppy (except when they actually score).

At one point Vitti led an attack where it was a constant give-in-go between him and a number of TFC players, it looked really nice, even brilliant!

And how bout that Mid-ice *ahem* mid-field body check on Vitti... for a minute, I saw Tie Domi nailing a random Ottawa Senator... but then I woke up and realize it shoulda been a foul!

Ref swayed form good to terrible. Typical of MLS. I didn't realize that on throw-ins, you can have one foot way in front of the other AND far enough on to the pitch past the touchline that you can see space between the player's heel and the line.

Great game from Dichio. More of that, please. And some great positioning and game control by Robinson as well-that's his type of game.

Excellent win by TFC. Nana was excellent except for the goal but I think Serioux could've step up to helph his partner who was out of position. Serioux was lucky a couple of other time, he looked shacky.

Dichio was excellent, being part of the 3 goals, that's where you see how important he is for TFC.

Frei was solid.

Ref was excellent, only bad call was the body check on Vitti but maybe he felt Vitti run at the defender (I guess Pablo has already a bit of a reputation).

Fun game to watch!

A totally different team and I am sure that training on grass was the very very big factor. No more stiffness etc. Danny is a very imposing target man which was the big difference today. I can identify with him being of the same height and knowing how you use that height to shield and distribute. Great all the way around and I see us winning more games because of the less exposure to that crap.

Yap here we go again I told you so.Bring on the grass in that stadium and the place will be rocking and winning some great silverware.

I TOLD YOU SO!

Great game, great result. I think we moved the ball extremely well, I enjoyed how we passed it. The biggest positive is we played 90 minutes of entertaining and attacking footy, which we rarely do. Danny Dichio was great and was involved in all the goals. He should start every other game, 1 game play, 1 game rest. Another thing is Guevara and De Rosario have 9/16 MLS goals or half of our total goals which is great to see. Both these players MLS allstars IMO and are very skilled.

I noticed that too. I also noticed a couple of times this season the ball being placed so it's not even touching the line on a corner, once resulting in a goal against Toronto.

Contrary to playing a full 90 minutes as someone mentioned, I thought they played their customary 80 minutes, but this time they were wandering around in a haze in the first ten minutes instead of falling asleep in the last ten minutes the way they usually do. They started the game not being able to connect a pass and looked completely unorganised in my oppinion, but eventually got it together and played one of their best games I've seen Toronto play, oops, I'm supposed to say "Toronto FC" the way people on TV do every three minutes. Bloody hell, the FC is not necessary every time. Please stop. Whew, sorry. I just had to have a bit of a rant.

Overall, a good game from TFC. No Whitecaps game this weekend. Not even a Montréal game.

I've noticed the same thing multiple times.

re: Vitti. Played an efficient game but keep in mind the scenario he was put into made it much easier for him to hold the ball up operate in space (revs had to attack).

Team still in great need of some width, but overall it was a good performance.

Having not even seen the game I just wanted to say well done on the win TFC.

Have a look at the highlights. Man, watching those, I would have loved to have been at that game.

Cummins mentioned something in an interview the other day about more "strategy" wrt goal scoring. It would seem that they perhaps worked on some set plays. In my opinion the Reds should do this more often. Many games in the MLS seem to be identical in terms of attack style, etc. and knowing who to pass to and when, and where he's going to put the ball and when, definitely increases our goal scoring opportunities. That goal off a run by De Ro was excellent. Dichio's unintended "feint" (for lack of a better word) on the header worked out nicely as well.

All that after practising on grass"once".The boys were loose.A totally different game, seems just more creativity, more open plays, just real real fun to watch....finally.Freedom in the making.

Even my nemesis came through big time and the one that tipped me of on that phony grass.Dwayne prayers are working and you keep on scoring baby.

I have done my part now.Yes my Scarborough boys came through again.

I was impressed with Attakora for the most part: he's not a tall guy but he's quite strong in the air. I thought their goal came off a quality cross by Tierny but then again it appeared as if he had too much time and space to make that play in the first place. On the other side of the coin, Serioux's got to be careful not to dive in on challenges (got beaten a couple of times as a result) but I'll stop nitpicking because he's been mint all year.

Attakora has to take a large portion of the blame for the goal because Joseph should have been his man. Jim Brennan definitely appeared to be yelling at him about that in the immediate aftermath. Not sure if he thought he was playing him offside at the top of the box or he was just ball watching. He definitely didn't appear to be on the same page as Serioux and Brennan on that one anyway. Overall though even if he provides 90% of what you get from Marco Velez it's probably a good idea to go with him right now as he will is likely to wind up being the better player by the end of the season as he gains experience. I suspect he also provides extra pace at the back, which is one of the main issues with Velez sometimes.

It will be interesting to see what Chris Cummins does to try to get a bit of width in the midfield against the Whitecaps and LA given Marvel Wynne has been called up by the USMNT. My guess would be Sam Cronin and use Harmse in the centre with Robinson.

Guevara will also miss that match due to international commitments.

I see Attakora slid over to RB in place of Wynne, and Velez starting at CB alongside Serioux.

In the midfield, I still see Cronin and Robbo in the middle, with DeRo in the hole in place of Guevara and Vitti taking Dwayne's spot up top.

Yeah, I think he could have done better with that play, agreed. I like his upside and hope he continues to maintain his place in the side.

I prefer that lineup, as well.

Have to question whether either of you watched the first half against Chicago and I'm somewhat surprised to be siding with Kevin Harmse while an Afrikaner guy from Cape Town wants a Puerto Rican to play instead. :) Anyway given the latest on Rohan Ricketts' twitter there may be roster changes coming:-

so some of the assumptions underpinning this discussion may no longer hold by the time the LA game rolls around.

Wow.

Don't ever let my dad see you call me an Afrikaner. Seeing as my family suffered through Apartheid as Cape Coloureds, that is. [:P]

Velez has to start at CB, he is the only natural CB on the bench, and Nana is the best RB cover we have. Plus Velez has proven himself time and again against USL competition.

The only reason I'd start Harmse alongside Robbo is because Cronin seems to have hit a bit of a rookie wall lately. His games against Chicago and New England were far below par for the standard he set earlier in the season.

Up to Saturday's game, I was not that highly sold on Nana but he was terrific in that match. Good to see an addition to the two decent young backs we already have getting MLS experience.

Having spent a bit of time in Cape Town recently and finding it a bit depressing to say the least comparing and contrasting the likes of Llandudno and Hout Bay to Cape Flats I probably should have tread more carefully. Just a joke about you not backing a fellow South African. I just can't see it with Attakora on the overlap though, while Cronin should be a natural for that role given he can play as a box to box midfielder and spent a bit of time at right back in preseason games. If there were a naturally left sided midfielder, who was actually quite good defensively unlike Johann Smith, that would be less of an issue as jim Brennan would be able to push forward more.
