Limniatis wanna coach Canada

With all due respect to Limniatis he does not have the experience I would like to see for this position. He did some great things with Montreal last season but that does not mean he has the experience to find success with Canada at the international level.

Limniatis would have no greater success at the helm than Yallop or Mitchell. We need a coach that can get results and someone that the players beleive in. Limniatis in my opinion is neither at this point.

I really don't see our best players coming in from around the world to play under a coach who just got canned from a USL club. Not that he's not a decent coach, he just needs more experience. He needs to prove that Champions League run wasn't a fluke. If he moves up the club coaching ranks, winning titles with higher profile clubs, then maybe we look at him in 10 years or so.

I think a good place for him now is the french second division. Catch on at a lower club, and try and get them promoted. Maybe then he gets noticed by a bigger club.

I'm sort of divided on the thought of Limniatis being either head or assistant coach for the Nats. IF he was to get a position, I'd prefer him to take on the role of assistant. He is the motivator the MNT needs. I think he would have gotten better results out of the boys during this past qualification cycle than Mitchell did, purely through the motivating factor. They would suffer from mediocre tactical decisions, but they would have been a hell of a lot more fired up.

In all seriousness, he was interviewed today by the radio station Corrus sports. He said helping Soccer Canada get to the next level is something he would like to do. However at the same time he said he needs more experience before getting to that point.

Half way down the page here is the interview, part 2 he talks about Canada. In french however sorry!

He was asked during the interview if he is considering moving to another city to continue coaching. He said unfortunately, USL salaries are not high enough to move his family at the moment. I think his next step is taking on a coaching role for the NATS, but not necessarily the senior team.

seeing carver left toronto and the two assistants (dasovic and cummins) have a some what shared responsibility at the helm (cummins as coach) that leaves a vacant spot for someone else as a second assistant. i would assume that mlse would be able to support a decent salary for limniatis and he would be just a short plane ride away from home.

a) he would gain experience

B) tfc would have someone join them who knows l'impact very well, and knows some of the other teams tfc would possibly face if they press on in the ccl tournament.

c) limniatis would be that mush closer to seeing time with the nats by having more eyes on him

If John is serious about a coaching career, he needs to be looking outside Canada's borders because somehow I don't see him as a CSA staff coach (doesn't strike me as the type who would like the paperwork and other BS that is involved). He strikes me as the type of guy who needs to coach a club team, a group he can have together full time. CSA work is very little about coaching (how often does a CSA staff coach actually COACH GAMES??? rarely) and more about administration and scouting.

John needs to use those greek roots and find an opportunity over there.

It would PISS ME OFF if a guy like Limniatis, with a very thin resume, gets a CSA job ahead of guys who have better overall resumes and international experience...it would not surprise me but it would be disappointing.

I like JL...I hope he enjoys a long coaching career but he's not the answer for our MNT issues.

If he gets a job with Toronto, that's the end of my respect for him.

Did the Whitecaps fans lose respect for Dasovic when he joined TFC?

At the end of the day, coaching opportunities in Canada are rare so if TFC offers something to Liminiatis (something I doubt will happen) I would understand him taking it....
