canucklefan
It's been a long time since I wanted to see DeRo in forward position. My wish were granted during the match TFC - DC United where DeRo played his best game of the season and I can't just understand why Cummins moved him at midfield today against Chicago. Barrett: let's just say I can't stand him anymore. Foot or head, same result. Vitti: I start to believe that he's the same as Barrett, he can't score but he's a skillful player, let him play at midfield as a winger, I believe he'll look much better in that position. Tintin
True result: 1 - 1. TFC give up two penalties for hand ball in the box recently, but obviously this CONCACAF ref isn't going to award a penalty to a player in all red. Since De Ro plays at BMO and I don't, I'll trust his opinion of the turf. "I'm sick of it and it's killing our game."

ag futbol
That was definately not one of Frei's strong moments but he's not the main problem here. TFC badly needs some width out there. Dero, Cronin, Vitti, are not true wide players. We need someone who fits the job discription as opposed to plugging the square peg in the round hole. Maybe if all our wingers didnt' turn out like Welsh and Ricketts it might help. Finishing problem has already be stated ad nauseum, so i'll spare the rant. Overall i feel this roster has a lot of good components. We just need to get Dero in his best position and plug the few holes i'd say we look like a team that can get to the playoffs and **maybe** get past the first round. john tv
That turf is a killer and after I made my usual u-turn,meaning that rain is something else I again became fully aware of it's great shortcommings or short cummings, whatever, just watching thst ball bounce even on a regular pass gets to me.Maybe I have seen to many games and they may very well be in the thousands and played another who knows.Stopped playing at 67,started at 10 organized. That stuff is a before and after killer as well.Training on it must also have an effect.Anyway, that rain it seems got a lot of fans going or was it the score. I was surprised that fundamental soccer does not appear to be that fundamental and intelligent mistakes were rampant, meaning use your brains to decide. So I guess I am looking forward to the confines of ACC,no rain and one bigger drawback,no TFC fans.

Man you are a troll or just don't know much about goalkeeping... I'm actually a goalkeeper myself, For the first goal: I would have been standing between the penalty spot and the top of the box, then I would have ran up and got to it and cleared it. Or I would have stayed back and let him go one on one. You never hesitate and then go. Then when he got there he slid at nothing. Make yourself big and defend like an outfield player For the second goal: catch the ball on the first shot, if you cant put it out for a corner... pretty simple stuff. Then you would have been risking what Kenny Stamatopolous suffered courtesy of Michael Parkhurst. The step back Jason Devos referred to was probably related to anticipating that possibility. After the initial adrenaline rush of breaking through to the first team his form has arguably stepped back a notch but there's every reason to believe that he is going through a learning curve on the way to being a top class keeper. Cheeta
He's been pretty good, most especially for his age but tonight I'll give michaelfc91 the nod. Hesitated on the first goal and the 2nd was never going to happen unless the ball was played back into the box (which Frei should have anticipated better). The pass/crap shot across to McBride was one he should have gathered, or at least tried to. Either goal was savable, but I wouldn't describe his play on both as horrendous. Just open to honest criticism. The 1st goal maybe not so much, it's tough to predict how breaks evolve so far up field and no one wants to get caught out at sea unnecessarily. The 2nd I'm less inclined to be generous on. What an awful match. Contest was begging for a goal and it helped when it came but yeesh, that was a lot of painful waiting before it came. There have been some very pleasant surprises in this squad so far, all of them from unlikely sources. CBC was mentioning the odvious, that Frei may be up for rookie of the year if his performances continue at the level they have so far, but I think Nana may get some attention if he can continue as he has. Good lad. Wish him luck. There have been some very unpleasant surprises in this squad so far to, also from unlikely sources. P.S. The hand ball. Was it? Seemed to me the ball hit the player arm at the elbow, which was guarding his ribs, more than his fore arm. If I'm right I'd have a hard time seeing that "hand ball" as one worthy of a call. loyola
The first goal is a 1 v 1 with the keeper, no way you can blame Frei for trying to break up the play. Yes, he made that step back but that's not a major goalkeeping error that deserves to be qualify as "amateur". On the second, I,m not sure what you're talking about Cheeta. Are you suggesting he could've cut that missed shot that resulted into a pass to McBride? When you have a guy who's going to take a shot from 5 yards out you don't have time to adjust if he missed it and it goes to another player instead of being on target. What about help from his defense after the first save? It's true Frei hasn't looked as good as he is in the last two league games but no way Sutton is better than him. As for the no-call, agree it wasn't much of a handball, nothing like the Wynne textbook example of making yourself bigger. Chicago player had his arm very close to his chest. Why would it matter whether it's above or below his elbow? When deciding whether it's ball to hand or hand to ball the issue is intent, is it not? It looked to me that Wynne was trying to move his arm out of the way when the ball hit him (on the second one, I can't remember the circumstances of the previous one). I guess only Wynne knows for sure. It just seemed like such a load of bad luck to get two penalties for hand ball against them and then have one not called which lead directly to a goal at the other end.
