Bad news off the top as David Hoilett broke a toe in yesterday's 1-0 loss in Ahlen and will miss the rest of the season for FC St Pauli.

Big game from Kevin McKenna and FC Koeln yesterday as they defeat Werder Bremen 1-0.

Just 4 games left in the top two leagues.

Some good news for FCKaiserslautern. They fired their head trainer. (Coach). He will be replaced by the 2nd team trainer until the end of the season. I think it would have been better if it happened 4 weeks ago. It will be a tough reach to get promotion with the few games remaining. Josh will be happy. He can go back to playing attacking offensive instead of defense and kick and run.

Sorry Frank I see you already posted this in the April thread. This is good news.

These are indeed good news. You´re right this decission came much to late. Not only for the promotion fight, even for contract talks. Hopefully Josh now will extend his contract. He was one of the players who suffered most and will now have fun again at the pitch. As he saved us last year with his goals, he hopefully now shuts up the FCK to the Bundesliga:)

This NEVER happens in North America, unique to Germany I think. Should call it the FC Hollywood rule as Bayern's repeated forays into tampering in the past basically led the DFB to throw their hands in the air and give up.

Felix Magath, in a huge title race coaching VfL Wolfsburg, has announced that he is moving to rivals FC Schalke 04 for the 2009/2010 season, with some 4 games left in the '08/'09 season. One small consolation is that the two teams do not meet in the last 4 games.

Imagine Joel Quenneville announcing TODAY that he would be head coach of the Maple Leafs next season.

It´s difficult to understand. Felix Magath helped Wolfsburg to loose the image of a "grey mouse" and now he leaves for Schalke. The normla statements with different perceptions for the next season and all that stuff. Finally it´s only a question of money. If he will have the same success at Schalke I have my doubts as Königsblau is always a powder keg. Probably this story could cost Wolfsburg the Championship

Nik Ledgerwood on the bench as 1860 Muenchen (11th on 36 pts) host Hansa Rostock (14th on 34 pts) in a 6 point duel.

Saturday

Bundesliga 1

Kevin McKenna back to the bench as Geromel returns to the lineup for FC Koeln (11th on 35 pts) as they visit 1899 Hoffenheim aka 'the Village People' (9th on 45 pts).

The local press said, that there are two possibilities for Josh. Wether he replaces Lakic (he will miss the rest of the season for an injury) as second forwarder or on his traditionally postion on the left wing. I expect him to start left

I read this articel Jeffrey:), as Baquero marked the 3:1 in minute 91, which brought Barca the title later on. Shows the respecht they still have for the FCK;).

Good results yesterday in league two for the red devils. Nürnberg and Fürth drawed 1:1 in the Frankenderby. St. Pauli without David Hoillet beated Mainz 2:0 and so some exiting games are still to come. The next game day will played tomorrow and the day after tomorrow in both leagues, 1 and 2.

For those wondering what the hell, Barcelona took out Kaiserslautern on a late Bakero goal to make it to quarter finals, the year they won the first European Cup vs Sampdoria in 92. Iniesta's goal vs. Chelsea was immediately celebrated as "Kaiserslautern" all over again.

First leg Barça won 2-0, Kaiserslautern comes back with three at home, and only the late header by Bakero put Barça through.

In the vid, you can see Guardiola calling for a foul on the keeper on the first goal, hand upraised, and on the Bakero goal, he comes off the bench with his coat on to celebrate on the pitch. He was about 20 years old then.

Massive three points by Borussia Moenchengladbach on the weekend, finding the winner in injury time to beat Schalke 04 1-0 at home. No sign of Rob Friend. The win puts 'Gladbach out of relegation territory as they leapfrog both Energie Cottbus and Arminia Bielefeld into 16th place. All three sides are level on 27 pts but 'Gladbach and Bielefeld have a better GD than Cottbus and 'Gladbach has scored more goals than Bielefeld.

Paul Stalteri goes 90 minutes in defence for 'Gladbach in the win.

Bochum fail to gain ground and sit in 15th place, one point ahead of 'Gladbach. Both Imhof and Fernandes go the distance for Bochum as they lose 2-0 in Berlin.

Koeln also fail to gain any points, but although not mathematically assured of staying up are very probable to do so with an 8 point lead over the team in 17th. Kevin McKenna in for some offensive push with 10 minutes to go for Koeln but they go down 2-0 to 1899 Hoffenheim.

Only 3 rounds to go in the league and two take place this week as it is an 'English week' with midweek games tomorrow through Thursday.

Monday News:

Jonathan Bourgualt returns to FC St Pauli from his loan spell with SV Wilhelmshaven. He is sidelined with an injury and is now back in Hamburg in rehab. He will be looking to fight for a spot as a defensive mid next season with the Bundesliga 2 side. Decent article on him in the Hamburger Abendblatt, will translate later if I get a chance.

http://www.abendblatt.de/sport/fussball/st-pauli/article1006294/St-Paulis-zweiter-Neuer-Bourgault-kommt-zurueck.html

Eddie Sidra takes an early yellow and is subbed out in the first half, Adam Straith goes 90 minutes in central defence as Energie Cottbus amateurs are beaten 1-0 by said SV Wilhelmshaven.

Kyle Porter shows some versatility going 70 minutes as a fullback for Energie Cottbus' U19s as they lose 2-0 to Eintracht Braunschweig in the A Junioren Bundesliga Nord.

Tuesday

Bundesliga 1

FC Koeln host Hertha Berlin with McKenna back in as centre back with Mohamad suspended for a red card last game.

Bundesliga 2

1860 Muenchen look to stay safe this season with an away game to last place SV Wehen Wiesbaden, with Nik Ledgerwood on the bench.

Josh Simpson likely to start again with FC Kaiserslautern as they are away to Alemannia Aachen. A win combined with those above taking points off each other could lead to a promotion spot.

Wednesday

Bundesliga 1

Hamburger SV host VfL Bochum, both Daniels expected to start.

Match of the season for Borussia Moenchengladbach as they visit Energie Cottbus. A win should pretty much guarantee staying up. Friend on the subs bench at best, Stalteri to start.

Thursday

Bundesliga 2

FC St Pauli are away to FC Ingolstadt. Its been confirmed that David Hoilett did not break his big toe, but rather had a fracture and is healing well.

Ledgerwood starts as a wide midfielder for 1860, scoreless into the 2nd half.

Simpson also starts, K'town down 1-0 to Aachen well into the 2nd half.

McKenna and Koeln down 1-0 at the half to hosts Hertha Berlin. Huge implications for the title race as Hertha with that goal moves into 2nd place ahead of Bayern (scoreless vs Leverkusen) while Wolfsburg move up to 1st as they are leading Borussia Dortmund 1-0.

I typically use www.bundesliga.de for its live ticker.

Go to www.bundesliga.de front page. Click on "FC Energie - M'gladbach" on the right side.

When the next page is loaded, click on 'Live-Ticker/Liga Radio' button which launches a new window.

By default, it displays the ticker (Ticker tabl) content. You can also look at the tactical lineups (Ausstellung tab) and individual player stats (Spielervergleich tab).
