Grizzly
quote:Originally posted by dj_patm Ah I understand, but this will most likely be a one off thing... Hence the idea of maybe wearing a large Canada flag as a cape or something with the TFC jersey on. Or would it just be better if I wore a generic "Canada" shirt. I'm assuming wearing Canada hockey jersey is frowned upon? Actually a Canada hockey shirt would be fine as would a generic Canada shirt. We are trying to discourage people from wearing club colours at Canada games even though TFC has the same colours as Canada. It creates problems or disagreements between rival fans especially in games outside of Toronto and when we go to Canada games we want to be unified. I doubt anyone in LA would care that much what you wear and would be just happy that you are there but wearing the hockey jersey or something else red would be preferrable to the TFC jersey. As Master stated we discussed this before and different people had different opinions but in general the majority agreed that at a Canada game there should be Canada jerseys not club jerseys. Fearnsy 8. dj patm (hopefully will join us) I've also sent the following invite to Canadians Living Abroad... INVITATION FROM THE VOYAGEURS Hello – I believe we’ve contacted you before however I thought we would specially invite any interested Canadians Living Abroad to join us in cheering on the Canadian National Men’s Soccer Team playing Jamaica on July 3, 2009 at the Home Depot Centre in Carson California. We are planning to meet at the Off Campus Pub for tailgate/pre-game festivities at 2PM. We’ll be off to the game at 4PM, wearing proudly our Canadian colours. We’ll be sitting in section 136 seats 1-12 with some seats behind. We will be loud cheering and singing in order to give the canucks a boost. Any email in this regard to your members would be appreciated. We are far greater when we support our team in unison. Cheers. Brad – Voyageur See here for more information. http://www.canadian-soccer.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19098&whichpage=1 CA Off Campus Pub 18413 Avalon Blvd. (across the street from the Home Depot Center) Carson A couple of notes. River - Can you bring a few more scarves. I tried to get a few that I distributed in Edmonton with no luck so we could use them. Geoff - are you confirmed? Lord Bob - Did you confirm the pub? Simeon Jackson - can you pot a couple for us? PS**** I have the original 6 tic's ordered. YAHOO!!! Will distribute at Pub.
River City
Happy Canada Day V's! I'll bring the last of the scarves with me. Time to make another order methinks. Also for dj_patm, feel free to wear RED no matter what club shirt it is. I totally agree with Grizzly that if the game was in Canada, no club shirts would be allowed. But we're few in numbers so I'd be happy to see as much support as possible. Was thinking of approaching the Tico fans to join us for a bit. Crap...I'd even be ok with Man U jerseys.... Lord Bob
Sorry for the delay; my flight between Columbus and Miami got cancelled, which is a nice treat to receive a couple days before you leave the country, and I've been scrambling a bit. Anyway, I called and the Off-Campus Pub doesn't actually open until four on Friday, so it wouldn't help us much. EDIT: the Red Car Brewery (http://www.redcarbrewery.com/) is about nine K from the Home Depot Center so we'd probably have to cab it, but it's probably as close as we're going to get for somewhere decent and splitting three cabs four ways that distance isn't too expensive. Even in Los Angeles. EDIT 2: Just got off the phone with the Red Car. With parties of eight or more they refuse to divide the cheque and charge a mandatory service charge! Forget that noise! What is wrong with this city?
CanadasBest
I'm confirmed Sorta. lol I just went to book my hotel on the TD Travel Reward website and was looking between the 4 Points Sheraton LAX, and the Renaissance Montura which is right next door. To make this story short I booked the 4 Points Sheraton because of the cheaper price and Free Wireless but ended up with a confirmation for the Renaissance Montura at the cheaper 4 Points Sheraton Price. So anyways I'm still planning on coming... Edit: I called the hotel direct and confirmed. I'm at the Montura... Very weird.

What about this lounge at the Doubletree Hotel in Carson? http://doubletree1.hilton.com/en_US/dt/hotel/LGBCHDT-Doubletree-Hotel-Carson-Civic-Plaza-California/dining.do It's 2.5 miles to the stadium. Lord Bob
If you guys want to take a crack at calling the Red Car, go for it! The guy I was talking to sounded as excited to see a dozen Canadian soccer fans as I would be to see a dozen rabid raccoons and was not exactly up for finagling our way through anything.. CanadasBest
Let's just show up there and take over. I'm planning on getting there at 1:00 or so...
Lord Bob
Taking over works for me, though I probably won't be in until 2:30 or so, depending on cabs and traffic.

superbrad
Ok are we agreed? Red Car?? My buddy operates a business in Carson - says that overall its a s#@thole, (Carson and the area around the Home Depot Center). I've emailed him asking if he has another suggestion - however I suggest that for now we stick with the Red Car. I'll have my blackberry and will check emails and this thread up until game time. I leave around 730PM tommorrow.

You got it, BF!) thanks! could you pay River for the scarf in LA?, then I'll just cover your ticket for the El Salvador game (i won't deposit the email transfer you sent, i haven't deposited anyones yet, actually). And i'll buy you a beer* for being the Vs pack mule.
Lord Bob
Fine by me. I was checking my bank statement earlier today and I noticed the $23 was out of my chequing account, so I suspect the Internet transfer grabs the money even before you accept it. You probably have to go in and decline to receive it.
superbrad
No other suggestions for the pregame beer. Hence we'll meet at the Red Car Brewery in Torrance, 1266 Sartori Ave. Show anytime after 1PM and we'll cab it to the game around 4PM

River City
Aight boys, I've landed and am settling in at beautiful Hermosa Beach. Not sure if the beach is nice, but all the bars are.... See you all tomorrow at the Red Car.
Lord Bob
My schedule is getting more complicated by the millisecond. I may be there only at 3:45 PM - plenty of time to get to the game, of course, but be aware! And of course I'll be busting my hump to get there sooner. djcuse
quote:Originally posted by dj_patm I'll be wearing my TFC jersey... Is that acceptable? Can't wait to see a few other Canadian plates in the parking lot. Is the attendance projected to be poor? reading through this thread I read that a few sections were sold out? Considering the fact that TFC is the Champions of CANADA and their proudly displayed on the home site of canadasoccer.com I dont think anyone should have any reason to have beef if your proudly wearing a TFC jersey...
