Lord Bob
My continuing attempts to get a group rate for the match has hit a snag. The phone number for group rates at Home Depot Center events (1-877-234-8425) is disconnected, their website has an expired domain, and neither TicketMaster nor the Home Depot Center box office are able to help beyond telling me the disconnected number. Now, the very worst case is we pay full price for our tickets, but my credit card and I hope that I don't have to buy ten of those. So if anybody has any great ideas, now's the time! River City
I emailed the marketing person in order to get approval on drums, drumsticks, flag poles and banners exceeding their posted limit, and have yet to hear back from them. I'm still at work, but once I get home, I'll email the Chivas USA guys and see if they can do anything for us, including a contact person for match tix. Don't suppose you've gotten a reply on the tickets yet? My enquiries have still turned up a bunch of people saying this one group is responsible and this one group being quite difficult to reach. (Do you suppose there are guys in a call centre in Los Angeles playing XBox and saying "gee it's been quiet for the last two weeks"?)
Lordsnooty
My wife and I are now 60% certain that we will be attending this match. Ticketmaster 1-800 has not been given any seats to sell in Sections 101,142,121,122. I've now tried calling 2 local L.A. Ticketmaster offices long distance and was unable to speak with a human being. Every telephone option prompts you to go to the website or the 1-800. Home Depot Centre box office will accept no telephone sales, only walk-in sales. They said that seats in these sections MAY become available via Ticketmaster closer to match day (she said 2 weeks from match day). The group sales # is not working as posted by Lord Bob. I suppose that waiting is our only option. The Voyageurs may well be spread around this arena like dust in the wind.
superbrad
^On another note. I found a hotel in West Hollywood which is uber fancy looking for a very reasonable price, ($111/night for a junior suite). They are obviously hurting in the US for business. As I work in the hotel world, this appears to me to be about a $300+/night type of hotel based on location etc. Both Soka and I are booked here for the weekend. http://www.lemontrose.com/index.php

I've been to several Gold Cup matches and it has never been a problem having everyone congregate in one section despite holding tickets all spread out. I'd be totally shocked if this game was anywhere close to a sell out. Last time I saw a game in LA; Canada vs. the US, Nazz and I had 95,000 different seats to choose from. I'm still really on the fence about going. I'll have to make a decision either way fairly soon here.
Vancouver Fan
That was funny Geoff. It was at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena in January. Don't let anyone tell you it doesn't get cold on SoCal. There's a good chance that you'll all get to be together even if the stadium is 3/4 full and you have different seats. Wish I could come. Have a memorable time. Lord Bob
I actually did get a customer service agent in Los Angeles from Ticketmaster, but they just referred me to the disconnected group sales number.
superbrad
Hey guys - on April 20th I had talked to Ticketmaster and they told me that seats in 120 were available including front row. Has anyone asked about this section?

LA is huge though. How far away is that from the Home Depot Center, and how are you guys planning on getting around?
superbrad
According to Google maps - its 36 mins (no traffic) or 1.5 hours in heavy traffic. We'll be at the pub early (no later than 3pm). If we get a group of us I'm willing to kick in a few bucks for a limo or taxi van. In LA there are cheap limo's everywhere (sometimes less than a cab and they let you drink inside....) The thing about staying in Hollywood is the cool things to do from there...Sunset Blvd, Universal Studios, etc.

Lord Bob
quote:Originally posted by River City I've received bugger all. As an idea for tickets, what if we just buy them on game day? Safe to say tickets will be available since they sure aren't making them easy to buy. My one concern with buying onsite is with the stadium staff: they see a dozen-odd Voyageurs with banner, flag, and drum walking up and saying they want tickets. Might be easier for the officials if they know where we're going to be. Other than that, though, I'm in favour.
River City
Since no one is having luck getting a hold of anyone down there, I'll send Winnipeg Fury a message and see if his CSA contacts can do anything for us.

CanadasBest
I tried calling Ticketmaster in the US and got some information. Phone Ticketmaster: 1-800-745-3000. The max number of tickets to book for this event is 50. I inquired about 10 tickets for Row A in Section 120 and seats 1-10 were available. $20.00 US each plus taxes and service charges. superbrad
I don't mind buying a lot of 10 for the cause. Do we want all of Row 1 or should we take 5 and 5 behind (we may look larger and I can spill beer on my fellow V's from row 2). Let's update the confirmed numbers again... This will be a cool venue...anyone else?????? Going to LA... 1. Superbrad 2. Lord Bob 3. GWallace76 ** 4. Soka and guest 5. Rivercity 6. Lordsnooty and guest ** 7. Mcauot ** 8. Fearnsy and guest ** ** Not confirmed.
CanadasBest
I will confirm today whether or not I'm coming. I just need to secure my flight etc. and get approval from work not to be here over such a busy weekend.
Lord Bob
I'd go with ten in a row, all along the rail. If we were deeper into the section I'd agree with 5+5, but if we're all in row A that's our best chance of looking big. Plus, hey, who doesn't like standing in row A? If I'm confirmed I'll book in Sec 120 as close to the front as possible. Cheers.
